In a way it's sad they released their bacon recipe, because by doing so they show how much they truly cared about their goal for why they're making vegan bacon to begin with. It sucks to see companies don't succeed that had real passion
@msjkramey5 ай бұрын
That's so cool how instead of being like, "if I can't make this, no one can!" that they decided to share it with everyone. Sucks that they went out of business tho

It really is awesome!! like I get why some companies don't do it, you never know if you can come back, but at the same time good for them for just releasing it anyway. They knew they had something awesome
@msjkramey5 ай бұрын
@@SauceStache I don't think releasing the recipe necessarily prevents them from coming back either. People love convenience foods. I've watched plenty of videos on fermentation and tofu making, but at the end of the day I still buy my kombucha, kimchi, and tofu. I love making my own vegan cheeses, but I still buy the pre-made stuff. I think it's a good PR move in case they ever get funding again because it shows that they're not gatekeeping, you know?

@@msjkramey Good points about coming back. As it is, people can make their own bacon from scratch, or just buy raw bacon, but they still buy cooked bacon, so clearly, there is still a market for this.

@@watkinsabob123a half sheet pan is 18” x 13” , which is what your standard cookie sheet pan is that people will have at home. Still my favorite vegan bacon is Happy Veggie World. Heavily dependent on soy and wheat protein and MSG and other related amino based salts. The kind of processed food carnists love to hate on, despite the fact that the real thing is a class 1 carcinogen. This looks pretty good. I've made wheat starch bacon from left overs of wtf seitan, and feel I've improved flavor by adding a protein source. Get a m8x of chewy and crispy. Also add a touch of cloves, mustard and fennel.

So I think my 9x12 cookie sheet will be the correct size, since you said you used a larger pan. Reading the comments I have learned that we both were wrong. You really had a 1/2 sheet and not a full size and my cookie sheet was really too small. 🤦🏾 BUT it still came out delicious! It fried up very well and was chewy like real meat. I have almost eaten the entire pan!! It keeps you coming back for more and more! Great recipe, THANKS!! By the way, will use the correct size pan the next time I make it👍🏾

As someone who did not want to participate in causing animals to suffer, I stopped buying animal flesh and other animal products. At first I got a desire for the taste of cooked and seasoned flesh, but after awhile I no longer thought about it. And then the smell of raw flesh, and cooked flesh, became something that I found disgusting, rather than appealing. I'd like to leave things this way. I think that reminding myself of what bacon tasted like, by eating mock bacon, would only cause me to have cravings for real bacon.
