Samuel Kajah Most of the time moms just use leftovers or pre-made stuff and pack it for their kids. I just remember all my mom ever did was just cook rice the day before, and then put in a bunch of vegetables and maybe japanese pickles from the packaging, with beef she just sautées in the day before.
@hitachicordoba9 жыл бұрын

As a kid (before) I never really feel full or satisfied with having a sandwich for lunch. The sandwich has to be really packed or more than one to imitate the satisfaction I feel with eating a proper meal - that is, rice, main dish (that has meat) and other side dish or soup. Sandwiches are more like snacks than meals for the most of my family.

I have an adorable bento box. I'd use it every day. However, one day I didn't wash my bento once I got home from school. The bento was tightly sealed, and as the bento is red, there is no way to see inside. The bento has been sitting on the counter for a few months, unwashed and filled with sauces and leftover food. I'm afraid to even open the thing for fear of contracting a deadly disease. Maybe I'll open it with a stick and power-hose it. I assume there is mold covering the inside of the bento and parasitic development as well. I am currently entertaining the thought of burning the thing.

c4987 usually they make one for each person going off in the house... kids going to school, father going to work, and mother herself for either lunch or work lunch, some japanese mothers/wives stay home and take care of the house... so they have all the time in the world to do their job and just plain do the dishes... i always found Japanese people to be a lot more understanding of things like this... as if they would look at doing the dishes as a normal easy thing that is just a responsibility.

It is not only preparing the bento! You have to prepare all items and ingredients, clean vegetables, when you prepare the pumpkin you only need a slice and have to put apart the rest (it takes a minute, but you need that minute); same for the apple. Prepare sauces, spices for onigiri, pans, bowls, salt, water, ice.............. And when you finish you have to clean everything! I am not that sure you can to all this in only 20 minutes........

I think I would make a bunch of this beforehand, refrigerate it, and just pack it each morning with little to no cooking.

My mom and dad use to make these sometimes when I was a boy. Usually to wish me good luck and success when I have a big test that day or to reward me when I wrote good marks. I'll never forget that. I still make occasionally myself, my fiance, my mother and my lil brother a bento to this day. It's a wonderful way to show that you really care for and love someone.

This was my first Cooking with Dog video and it had me falling with love with Chef and Francis. It's been 8 years and still going strong as a subscriber.

ever since i watched this video ten years ago i have always made my sausages/hotdogs into octodogs. haven't cooked in a long time because of depression, but just today i was helping a friend cook and i subconsciously started cutting up octodogs, and it reminded me of how much joy this simple task used to bring me.
