Hey man! You are absolutely right, about showing up. What another great video of yours once again. Thank you for this delighful knowledge. Also, I completely agree, the last month, I have been posting a video almost daily, it has led me to a 100+ followers across the different channels (jacktimermusic on all SM platforms), which is pretty rad indeed. Also, today, I showed up in Kingston in the middle of the rain, and it led me to almost go home empty handed, but in this very moment, the rain stopped, so I ended up busking for about 4 hours instead. A great feeling it is. I liked what you said: expect nothing, be grateful for everything... That's the key to open the good life in the Universe. And of course... Keep Showing Up... You are doing amazing man, when I came across your channel (probably in the beginning of this year) you had less than 3k followers, now you're having around 1500 more. Well done. The key of being consistent with making videos, I guess:)

So much great information, Ben. I'm busking once a week, out here in L.A., and trying to get motivated toward a real functioning music channel where I play classic covers and and some originals. I've got decent cameras and have shot some video, but the sound-quality has been frustrating. There's a lot of street noise that I don't notice when singing and playing but is so obvious on the video playback. I've been using the Roland Street EX for a year, but that Mackie seems like the only way to go for clean audio. To be honest, I'm still a little inhibited about running cameras. You have certainly conquered your shyness about that. Thanks for all the insights, Buddy.
@AugustRadioProject2 ай бұрын
Stoked for you Dave! The Mackie definitely sorts the sound conundrum out, as well as having an incredible sound! 😀 You could also try using the line out on the Cube and plugging in some kind of portable recording device. I did it when I was using the Samson and it produced some good results! All about the experimenting! 🙌 Thank you man!

Cool stuff as always! As you know I started busking again after a lng time, because of your videos! Never thought of videoing it! Not sure I'd leave a Canon sat on the floor, they'd nick that in 5 mins here in Spain! A GoPro clipped to the guitar tho, now that's cool!! Mind you, my busk consists of about 16 songs, that's all (one of which I've just nicked off you haha). Not sure how many videos I'd get out of a short set list before it got boring! Cheers as always!
@AugustRadioProject2 ай бұрын
You gotta be comfortable! That's definitely something worth noting. If you're not comfortable or fretting about gear getting stolen then it effects the busk! The GoPro is a rad camera for capturing the busks, especially on the guitar - creates a real cool action shot! 😀 🙌

@@AugustRadioProject I came up with another idea, as I use a Cube Street amp, how about the GoPro recording video, connected to the Rode Go which would be in front of the amp? (like micing a cab with a 57), would that work alright do you think?

Still debating on a camera setup. I have a nice Sony, and a a reasonable tripod. I can run a line out from my amp to an input on the camera, but I’m kinda scared after being robbed the other week in case someone grabs the camera, so I need a way of securing it. I could attach an old iPhone to the back of the phone holder I use for my card reader and shoot in 4k but I’m not sure I would get the right camera angle doing that. I have a cable that will go from my amp to an iPhone for recording the audio. Decisions, Decisions. I am looking to purchase a cheap body cam to attach to my accordion in case I get robbed again though.

This video was exceptionally informative. Love your music which I see improving all the time and love your videos. Only one question…do you worry about having the camera stolen? You’ve certainly been teaching me a lot and I’ve even managed to get a couple of my muso friends to go get their busking license too. Keep doing what you’re doing because the passion shows. Sending love across the ocean 🇦🇺. Teresa Wagstaff 😊

This is so rad to hear! Thank you so much 😊 in the beginning I used to worry about the camera but over time I’ve come to realise that it perhaps isn’t so desirable. Most phones are worth way more and I suppose thief’s prefer to operate a little more subtly. I’ve witnessed many a shop lift though, sometimes with successful chases - always entertainment eh 😃🙌🏻 appreciate the kind words and happy busking!

It's a tough choice eh! Especially with so many great amps/PA's to choose from! I would say that if you're interested in using audio for videos or even for demos then having the record feature on the Mackie is a good reason to go for it. @@theunaccompaniedsenior - funny you should mention that. Some young lads approached me recently. They told me I was begging and asked if I were homeless. They’d obviously heard this from adults of their acquaintance. I pointed out that I wasn’t homeless, I live on my boat, and that playing music was my work and that I had trained formally and practised hard to be able to do what I do. I choose to play in the street because I enjoy it. This seems very hard for some people to understand.
