What a lovely tutorial, Jackie. You are a natural teacher and encourager. I make butter, too, but use my electric mixer. I have an Ankarsrum Assistent. I enjoy perusing the Lehman's website, have bought some items from them. Your Dazey butter churn is a thing of beauty - and function, to boot! I enjoyed this video so much, thank you. ~Michele

In India - we also make butter from "yogurt/ curds". After milk is fermented to curds/ yogurt, we churn the "curds" to get the butter.This is time consuming. Then heat the butter on medium- slow flame to get ghee . This ghee is granular in texture & slightly sour. We use this method for savoury foods. The left over "no fat" buttermilk is had with meals as a refreshing drink. When we use "cream" fr making butter - we make our sweetmeats with it. Butter made from cream has no nutritive value but butter made from curds has the probiotic benefits.

Brilliant video! ❤️ I have a few questions if you could be so kind as to help me: How fresh is the cream before turning it into butter? Moreover, do you let it sit outside once you separate it from the milk? There are so many ways to do this and I can never find the right combination to get my butter just right. Thank you so much in advance and God bless!
@LittleCountryCabin2 жыл бұрын
Great questions! I take cream off of milk that has been refrigerated at least 48 hrs. This allows the cream to separate thoroughly. After the 48 hrs I pull off the cream. I store it in the fridge until butter making day. When I start making butter some of the cream could be 5 or 6 days old. On butter making day I will set the cream out on the counter in the morning to allow it to reach room temp. Thanks so much for watching and God bless you as well!❤️

Loved this!!! I'll share the link to it at my group and my page. I have made butter the other way you mentioned, heavy store bought cream shaken (is that even a word? lol) in a quart canning jar. I'm sure it was not as good as yours though. I never did understand the word you said 34 times (+/-) yee or gee or whatever it was you said you would make from it. After I share this video to my group and page, then I will run to Google and try figuring out what your next step is. Merry Christmas to you two and all your family.

Hangin Out With Stan 😂it’s called ghee which is the same as clarified butter. I hope to have a video out on that soon. Thank you stopping by and for sharing. That encourages me so much!! Have a very Merry Christmas and blessings to you!

Can I use my Kitchenaid mixer in place of of a Dazey hand crank churn. I do not have access to raw cream. Can I use cream from the grocery store?
@LittleCountryCabin3 жыл бұрын
Thank you for asking! Yes, you can use cream from the grocery store. Whipping cream would be best. Generally, people who use the mixer find that when the butter makes, the mixer agitation slings the buttermilk out. Usually making a mess. You might could improvise a cover that would prevent this. You could also put the cream in a qt jar and shake until you have butter. Just be sure to not go much over half full. Hope this helps and thank you for watching. God bless❤️

Could I pasteurise the cream before making butter? I would probably get my cream from the milk I am going to get from an industrial farm. Is it OK to heat it up to 180 degrees Fahrenheit to even get rid of coronavirus?
@LittleCountryCabin4 жыл бұрын
You can certainly heat the cream before making butter. Since I don’t pasteurize our milk or cream I’m not sure of the specific technique but you can research and find a reliable source on temperature and time for that. The butter will still make but I wouldn’t churn it while it’s warm. I would cool it down to room temp or a little less before churning. Thank you for a great question and blessings to you😀

@LittleCountryCabin4 жыл бұрын
No. It’s fresh raw milk. If you have access to fresh raw milk and prefer to pasteurize it, it will still make butter.
