FAQ: Is corn flour same as corn starch? You have to be careful with these 2 flours. At some places corn starch is the same as corn flour. Corn starch that I am talking about is white, and you can feel the flour is extremely fine, almost like glutinous rice flour texture. It is commonly used for cooking purpose to thicken up sauce. Also, it depends where you are from, as some places corn flour is yellow, that is not the same as corn starch. In summary, corn starch is white (not yellow) and a very fine flour. Hope you will get the right flour 😊

Gracious treat in uk we use corn flour for soups and it is white and very fine texture. I have just read on box and says add 4 parts plain flour to 1 part cornflour to create lighter cakes and puddings. Question how much is 4 parts flour? And one part corn flour??? Please could you tell me this in grams. Thanks

I would presume so as that's exactly what we want to achieve. But I think with the cornstarch content, its protein content will be lower too 😊

Did you mix the cake flour with plain flour in the container?
@animeaime44733 жыл бұрын
I've read somewhere else that it is around 14g cornflour and 86g plain flour for each 100g of cake flour needed. So if the recipe required 250g cake flour, it would need 14% of 250g = 35g corn flour and 86% of 250g = 215g plain flour. Plain flour (UK) is similar to all purpose flour (US). However the protein content of all purpose flour is higher than plain flour which is similar to UK bread flour equivalent. Corn starch (US) is corn flour (UK).
