I know this video was uploaded such a long time ago but...just the fact that you’re using GLOVES while making food that ppl will eat has earned my respect for your version of making cake pops! I will definitely use gloves and have ALWAYS thought those same exact thoughts when it comes to making food that other ppl will will be eating! Thanks for pointing that out:)

I am confused as you used a frozen cake to create the cake balls yet then re froze the cake again in balls. Is this OK to re freeze like this? I was under the impression you shouldn't re freeze anything bg twice. Why do you need to freeze them again if you also have to wait till room temperature to decorate them? Thank you ever so much for your tutorial xx

Andrea Stevens thank you for replying to a comment from a year ago! Do you do regular box mix or adjust it? I’ve also noticed many tend to have more success making vanilla cake pops from a box vs from scratch because the box has special floors that absorb the excess oil I guess but scratch cake does work as well

@WindsorCakeAcademy
@WindsorCakeAcademy 8 жыл бұрын
Hi Kellie You don't have to use a cake that has been frozen, you can just use one from fresh. We just always have a stock of frozen cakes around for things like this and we find that the cakes that have been frozen and then defrosted always end up a little more moist than freshly baked. Hope this helps and thanks for watching :)

@WindsorCakeAcademy
@WindsorCakeAcademy 8 жыл бұрын
Hi Rafael, We managed to get 23 cake balls from a really shallow 8" square vanilla cake. The size of cake just depends on how many cake balls you need. The amount of frosting that you needs depends on how moist your cake is. Typically the more moist that your cake is the less frosting you need. Just do as shown in the video and add a little frosting at a time until the mixture comes together in the food processor. Hope this helps and thanks for watching :)

@WindsorCakeAcademy
@WindsorCakeAcademy 7 жыл бұрын
Hi, This could be happening for a couple of reasons. The first is that you need to make sure that the crumb on your cake is very fine when blitzing in the food processor. Maybe try letting it go for a little longer to make the crumb finer. It could also be due to the amount of ganache that you are adding or the consistency of the ganache. You need to make sure that the ganache is of cake covering consistency and not runny. When adding the ganache to the cake crumb, add very gradually and stop as soon as the mixture comes together in a ball. Hope this helps and the more practice you have the easier it will become :) Thanks for watching!

This could be happening for a couple of reasons. The first is that you need to make sure that the crumb on your cake is very fine when blitzing in the food processor. Maybe try letting it go for a little longer to make the crumb finer. It could also be due to the amount of buttercream that you are adding or the consistency of the buttercream. When adding the buttercream to the cake crumb, add very gradually and stop as soon as the mixture comes together in a ball. Also, when you are dipping your cake pops do not twist the stick...this will cause the cake ball to loosen the seal and fall off. Instead, rock the cake pop backwards and forwards. @WindsorCakeAcademy 7 жыл бұрын
Hi Charline, The traditional way cake pops are made is with crumbed cake and frosting like above. This should give you a pop that is very similar to a truffle, very dense inside and not like a normal cake. Some people choose to bake their pops into the sphere shape already but it is just however you prefer. Hope this helps and thanks for watching :)

Hi Leslie, It is best to make sure that the cake is fully defrosted before putting it in the blender as it is only then that all the oils and moisture will release to achieve the correct consistency. It should be fine if it is still on the cold side but wait until it is fully soft all the way through. Hope this helps and thanks for watching :)

Hi Russell, I wouldn't recommend it. It may cause the candy to condensate when defrosting. I have never personally tried it tho so you could give it a go with just one or two and see what happens. Do you defrost them in the fridge and generally how long does that take? Thanks...great video.
@WindsorCakeAcademy
@WindsorCakeAcademy 7 жыл бұрын
Hi, You can just leave them to defrost at room temperature as it isn't a meat or product that needs to be kept refrigerated. Depending on the size of the cake balls, they usually take around an hour to defrost. Hope this helps and thanks for watching :)

You said the original cake was frozen. You then defrosted it, made the cake balls and suggested freezing them again until needed. Is this right? I understood that you should not refreeze items.

+Wendy Bedford Hi Wendy. Yes you are totally right...we were just explaining what we would do for the purpose of the video. These cake balls where then used straight away for the Christmas Cake Pudding video. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. I will put a little annotation on the video explaining this :) Very sorry for any confusion and thanks again!

What's the frosting made of?
@WindsorCakeAcademy
@WindsorCakeAcademy 6 жыл бұрын
Hi, it is just a pre mixed vanilla cake frosting that you can buy off the shelf. A ganache or buttercream works just as well tho :) Hope this helps and thanks for watching!

Hi, This is really easy to make but why should we make it as a dough but .Why can't we just use our hand to mix and use a little bit of icing
@WindsorCakeAcademy
@WindsorCakeAcademy 7 жыл бұрын
Hi, You can make cake pop mixture with your hands. This is just showing you the way that we find easiest and with the most amazing texture! You get a much finer crumb with a food processor than you can get with your hands and by adding the frosting in this way you can be sure it is mixed through every part fully, before adding too much. I have known people that have really struggled with making a cake pop mixture that holds together well that after trying this way have loved it and will never go back to doing it any other way. Others are quite happy using their hands. It is all personal preference :) Thanks for watching :)

@WindsorCakeAcademy
@WindsorCakeAcademy 7 жыл бұрын
Hi, We have used a genoise sponge for this but any sponge can be used. We have done it with chocolate, red velvet, lemon and lots more! Moister cakes are always better because you need less frosting but any should be fine, just get experimenting :) Thanks for watching!
