How to make cards with pressed flowers! - A Facebook Live Event!

In this Facebook Live video, I'll be using nature as my partner in crime and will show how to make cards with pressed flowers and other plant matter! The dried flowers come compliments of my sweet daughter and the mountains of West Virginia. She is a nature lover to the core and I just love that about her! Thank you Sarah!

I just came across your youtube o and was shocked at how much you remind me of my favorite cousin! I just bought some dried flowers and was wondering how to make greeting cards with them! I am 70 years old and do not have any machines and everything I do is by hand or printer! My name is Linda and I hope to hear from you!

For flatter plants, you can run them thru your laminating machine in a pocket. Looks like fun.

Not only was I interested in the technique I just ordered a small jar of the gel medium...can’t wait for it to arrive...I’ve been pressing flowers for ages and now I know what to do👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼. I especially liked the vellum look.

I loved your video...looks easy...so my question is what is the clear "cling" you are using to adhere the flowers to? Does that make sense? or is it the gel/glue that does that when dried. Thank you for your time.

I used a plastic window sheet, as the base for some of my flowers so it would end up being see-through from both sides after the Gel Medium dried. By doing it this way and can choose which side I want to be showing or even make it so I can hang it in a window like stained glass. Here is a link to the Stampin' Up! Your cards turned out amazingly well! One of my favorite things to do is walk and find little gifts nature has left for me to find. Wondering if you've ever tried using feathers with this technique.......I've amassed a nice collection of beautiful feathers from Blue Jays, Owls & Woodpeckers, etc. over the years and looking for a way to showcase them in cards, tags and bookmarks. Any thoughts? tfs

What a wonderful idea! I definitely think you should give it a try. If it was me doing it I’d put down a layer of the gel medium, put the feather down in it and let it dry before putting more gel medium over the top. My thought on that is do what is needed to retain the natural shape of the feather. Moving the medium over the top could change the shape of the feather but if its sealed in the medium underneath that may be less likely to happen. My other thought is to do it with your least favorite feather first just to make sure it works well before using it on feathers you especially love. Please let me know how it works out if you try it! These are beautiful! Once the gel dries, does it easily peel off the cardstock?

Thank you! I'm glad you like these. The gel won't peel off the paper and it's not intended to. The paper will just tear. If you did it on a silicone craft sheet you could do that if you wanted to though. You'd end up with something see-through with the plant matter suspended in the dried gel. It sounds like a fun ornament or something to hang in the window to me. If you try it let me know. Enjoy! :-)
