If you start with ice water it will extract some extra nutrients that the heat and vinegar cannot.

Would you need to do that if your bones were frozen? I want to keep all the bones for the weeks food and freeze them to make my bone broth each week.
@CatholicK5357
@CatholicK5357 2 ай бұрын
@@CallipygianMoose That's a good question. I honestly don't know because I've never tried it before. There's an easy way to find out though. Find out the temperature of ice cold water. Then put frozen bones in a pot, cover with cold water, and take the temperature to see if it is the same. You could also just do a finger test. My speculation: if using enough frozen bones with cold water to start then it probably would be cold enough. If not, you wouldn't need as much ice. You could always add just one to three cubes of ice just to be safe. Don't worry too much about it as you can always improve over time if you realize that you made a mistake.

Studies have shown that ACV doesn’t extract more nutrients that just slow cooking the bones. If you want it, you can still use it, but it isn’t necessary if you don’t like it.

I've been making bone broth for years--beef especially (so good for gravy)! I came across some great information about beef broth. BEFORE you roast the bones, you should blanch them first which will remove all the hair, blood, dirt and any other impurities. It's actually quite disgusting what boiled to the surface of my pot. Once all that was done, I roasted the bones and continued with the process of making stock. The flavour of the broth is much better and no matter where I get my next batch of bones--I will always blanch.
@TeresaSvk

Can you d3escribe the process of blanching? Thx
@alexbateman4301

@@TeresaSvk I have a big pot that I put the bones in and cover with water and bring to a boil. Once all the scum stuff rises to the surface, I scrape off and continue to boil until that quits happening. Then I roast the bones to get a nice colour and then put back in my clean pot, add water and some apple cider vinegar, wait for about a half hour or so and then bring to a boil. It's made a huge difference in the taste of the broth. Hope that helps :)

@@alexbateman4301Hi, do you mean you let it simmer 30 mins and then boil, or it takes 30 minutes til it boils cause you got a large amount? Or just let the roasted bones in cold water and then bring to a boil after 30 minutes? Sorry for the confusion
@alexbateman4301
@alexbateman4301 Ай бұрын
@@philk8190 Initially when I blanch the bones, I bring water to a full boil and continue until all the scum quits surfacing. Then I take out bones and roast in oven to get a nice colour to them, for however long that takes. Then back in a clean pot with fresh water, no heat and some apple cider vinegar for at least a half hour. After about a half hour, I'll bring pot to a boil (just to ensure all impurities are gone) and then add my veggies and let simmer. This is usually a Saturday event and I'll let simmer overnight and can it up on Sunday. 🙂

this will be a life saver for me, i like to eat a lot of soups but most arent carnivore, and when i try to do it from scratch it always turns out bland, i decided to slowly transition to carnivore after i stopped eating meat for a while because i wanted to save money and ended up making myself very sick and after one steak fixed my whole problem i started adding more meat to my diet, then i heard of carnivore wich at first wounded ridicules because everything i knew about healthy eating came from my mostly vegetarian family, but clearly vegetarianism doesnt work for me so i want to find out of the opposite will work better

I got beef bones from long ago and the long bones that were cut back from our Christmas prime rib we are going to cook. I also have a ton of fat that I removed at the end of that roast that was just super thick. I was thinking of maybe Tallow and beef broth at the same time?????? I'm not kidding it's a lot of fat. lots of meat and connective tissue with the bones. I've been full carnivore for 2 weeks. No burst of energy but feel amazing. Before that I was two weeks Keto. Started Black Friday. Down 20 lbs. Christmas Eve today. I'm looking for that bone broth and I also cook with that Tallow. Steak & eggs every morning so far

Carnivore diet is best died for losing weight because it doesn’t allow carbohydrates of any form, only protein and fat. You only eat animal products such as meat & eggs, but not milk since it contains carbs. It’s really good and you’ll feel better if you try it.

coffee is a harsh stimulant. Best to find a way to get rid of it from your diet and all other forms of caffeine. it also leaches out all the minerals that you are trying to add to your diet with the bone broth! take a power nap during the day if you need one, you will get a life quality improvement without caffeine.

Hello! I’m curious as to what your opinion is on the fat that rises to the top ? I have read a couple articles/recipes that state the fat should be skimmed after 2-3 hrs of cooking otherwise it becomes rancid.. I made my first batch of bone broth and did not skim the fat. Thanks from Canada.
@mysterymaverick1982
@mysterymaverick1982 Жыл бұрын
I usually skim the fat and put it in a tub in the fridge and you can use it for cooking or even as a facial moisturizer. It's basically beef tallow/beef dripping. Its great for roasting potatoes but I'm not a carnivore.
@LauraJ_Iago
@LauraJ_Iago Жыл бұрын
I've never heard that, nor have I ever experienced it, just mix it in while the broth is warm, put it in your jars or containers in the freezer and then when you reheat it mix in a good chunk of the top fat with each batch, it will just mix in and just drink it down! It will give you amazing health benefits, fat is so important! But yes you can also keep it separately for cooking in the fridge or freezer but it certainly won't go rancid any time soon!

You sourced good ingredients but then used an older crock pot. The danger with ceramic is cracks could lead to toxins seeping in the food and you have to question how that ceramic was sealed. And you covered it with something that sounded like plastic. Plastic when heated degrades and releases toxins. And that looked like a non-stick baking sheet which…well you can google it. So what was the point of perfectly sourced food if you didn’t source perfect cooking ware. As for the fear of pollution, my guys it’s everywhere there is no escaping it. Plants in remote parts of Alaska have shown to be very polluted because it travels in the air. My point really is we really can’t source perfect ingredients anymore. Everything is tainted in some way and I think it creates more stress on people trying find these perfectly source ingredients not to mention I’m sure some part of it is a money grab. People just do your best. You could do everything perfect and still get cancer or die young.
