Very good! I haven't made chocolate ring donuts before, just ring donuts; so I might give them a try. I sometimes, very carefully slice mine in half horizontally, and then piped heavy whipped cream onto the bottom half, and then dip the top half in glaze, being careful not to put the top half back on the bottom part of the donut with the cream on it, until the glaze is set. My Uncle loves them. I think he's gonna love the chocolate ones quite as much! :)

Hi Matt! New to your channel, and just wanted to thank you for this recipe. Was looking for donut recipe that was easy enough to do with my children, and this recipe fit the bill. However, when it came to the icing... don’t like the taste of powered sugar and couldn’t get the taste of it out of the icing. decided to put some Smuckers fudge ice cream topping into icing to try and get rid of powered sugar taste, but that still didn’t work. So then decided to try some cream cheese (4 oz) and that seemed to work. The icing came out a nice fudgy flavor with a hint of cream cheese.
@inthekitchenwithmatt5 жыл бұрын
Thank you Joey! Glad you found my channel! Yeah powdered sugar icing can sometimes have that "taste". Cream cheese frosting will definitely hide it. One thing that may help is by heating up the milk in the microwave for 30 to 35 seconds and adding the powdered sugar and cocoa powder. It will help melt down the sugar as well as bloom the cocoa powder. :)
@akia12225 жыл бұрын
In The Kitchen With Matt Thanks for the tip, will give it a try :)
@inthekitchenwithmatt5 жыл бұрын
@@akia1222 You are so very welcome! :) Let me know if you like it any better that way. oh some people also just use water and powdered sugar to make a really thin glaze. You may try that instead of milk. :) water typically has an easier time dissolving sugar.

Matt, I’ve made these twice but am having a problem with the glaze hardening (my glaze is without the cocoa powder). First time I dipped the slightly warm donuts into the glaze and the glaze soaked into the donut. Second try I waited until the donuts were completely cooled and used a thicker glaze and once again the glaze soaked into the donuts. I’m an experienced baker and have no idea what to try next. Thank you.
@sandyleonard16055 жыл бұрын
Oops. I meant glaze NOT hardening
@inthekitchenwithmatt5 жыл бұрын
I would try making the glaze a bit thicker, but even if it is thin, it should harden up. It could help to wait until the donuts are completely cooled before dipping them. Maybe try this glaze recipe: 2 cups powdered sugar, 1/4 cup milk and 1 teaspoon vanilla until smooth, although it isn't much different then the chocolate glaze.

@inthekitchenwithmatt7 жыл бұрын
Hello! Remember that is 350 degree Fahrenheit. For Celsius it would only be 175 C. If your oven doesn't go that high, and you have to bake them at 250, I am not quite sure how long it would take, but most likely 15 to 25 minutes longer. Continue to bake them until a toothpick comes out clean when you poke through them. :) Hope that helps!! :)

@inthekitchenwithmatt6 жыл бұрын
Hello Dennis! Sure you can add a bit more sugar to counter the bitterness of the cocoa powder. :) Yup the icing is meant to get sucked up into the donut. Frosting won't get sucked up. You can definitely try frosting if you like. Or you can add a bit more milk to your icing, so it is more thick.
