What do you do if the timeline doesn't allow you to capture some things? Like if you can't get to both prep locations or they do separate group photos at the same time?
@WaywardNorth5 ай бұрын
@@mara-shields going solo does mean you may have to sacrifice some moments. Generally, after ceremony the photog captures family and full bridal party so I can make up for missing people before. I like to find moments where these people are hanging out and capture them in an informal way so there’s footage in some way

I would love someone to explain when you’re shooting solo how do you get both the groomsmen and the bridesmaids when they’re doing their separate photos with two different photographers and the photographers are spread out with both of them… And shooting them at the same time…😢
@WaywardNorth5 ай бұрын
@@KrihaFilms you have to sacrifice as a solo shooter. You capture one and stage another or generally there are more photos with the bridal party together after the ceremony. Most times you don’t need the one on ones with the bride and each individual.
@KrihaFilms5 ай бұрын
This is true! You can stage or get more if they have another session very true. My last one didn’t and they were rushed so couldn’t stage anything :/

Another struggle I have had is setting up multiple angles on tripods for the ceremony having to put mics on everybody and then the venue doing a room flip while I’m chasing the couple doing party shots after and people moving my tripods and the officiant running off with my mic, and I can’t find them anywhere… so many issues ha ha maybe it’s just me 😅
@WaywardNorth5 ай бұрын
@@KrihaFilms it’s not just you haha this happens almost all the time for me. It’s part of the experience honestly when the venues are limited, the timeline is crammed, you definitely experience these things often. But focus on your couple and their moments above all else. You’ll gather your gear later.

I'm a little confused about the whole uncut gems thing. You mentioned that it helps you get back to being excited about your business. But isn't half of the work being done by somebody else. So how are you really putting your own touch on it at that point? I don't mean that in a negative way at all. I absolutely love your wedding films! ❤
@WaywardNorth5 ай бұрын
@@ghostlyvlogs8456 Totally! Everyone’s different and everyone has their own journey. 2017-2023 I never outsourced. I was constantly stressed about making short form content for IG, updating my website, bookkeeping, marketing, networking, things that could help my business truly grow. The editing isn’t half the work of your entire business. It’s simply one aspect of the product you’re offering. Delegating is one key to scaling and growing in your business. It’s also necessary when you get to certain point in your business (11 years in) I have a kid, family, I want time away from my desk to be with them. So there’s so many benefits and so many individual factors that go into deciding whether or not it’s right for you. I don’t outsource every film. Just ones I need when other areas of my business need more attention.

Silly question here but when you’re locking off focus for tripods do you get focus and then switch over to manual so that the autofocus isn’t searching? Thanks brother!
@WaywardNorth5 ай бұрын
@@danielgray1874 Yes I do! It’s not a perfect solution cause you never know if the couple will move once they are set but generally it’s great for grooms reaction and then I can adjust once the ceremony starts
