This is the first time I’ve heard anyone explain this properly, always thought it was steep backswing shallow downswing for power as I’ve heard on other videos. Thanks for this will definitely work on a steeper backswing 👍🏻

I've struggled for years with a flat swing plane. This is the first video I've seen where the fix didn't involve sticks and tee pegs everywhere. Just had a great ball striking round. It was easy to take to the range and implement the feeling. Great job!

thank you so much for this video, i’m glad there was finally someone that could explain it properly and with simplicity!

Exactly what I’ve been working on. You actually explained it better then who I’m seeing with the halfway back glove reference. Thanks

Best explanation ive seen of this ever. Could never understand why my swing is too flat. Credentials: 1 handicap

Excellent. Huge help. I am way too flat on my backswing and then way too steep on my downswing, I need to do the opposite!

Exellent Larry. You described my problem exactly and simply explained the fix.

Exactly what I am working on right now. This lesson really reinforces the concept of the steeper back swing. I was way to flat causing for the over the top. Great lesson that will be reviewed over again. Thanks!

Great explanation - especially explaining why it’s not a great idea to get steep through wrist hinge.

Very nicely explained young Larry, it’s interesting as I have been working on this as I tend to roll open & flat & throw out to try & get compression resulting in toe hits…when I do this properly in my net ( my video show,s me as still not as vertical as I want but way better plane & way better strikes…

I started doing this today ,and I've neaver hit the ball so good

Larry, I've watched more of your great videos than I should admit and have absorbed the following: setup with weight favoring your heels, feet at 10:30 and 1, use a slightly steeper backswing with no wrist bend to promote a subtle in-to-out swing path, keeping right arm as straight as possible promotes width, (shorter backswing is fine as width is priority!), at top: right hand tipping the tray back promotes flat club angle, initiate downswing with slight squat with turn left by lower torso + strong lift finish with hips striving for left field, left shoulder hopefully stayed down as it went around left. If all is done reasonable well, we should have a powerful and SHALLOW club path into the ball. Question 1: What prevents that shallow club from hitting the ground behind the ball? and secondly, which of the above do you adjust for when you are hitting from the rough and don't want the very shallow path? Thanks and stay safe!
@LarryCheungGolf4 жыл бұрын
To answer your question: If you do it well you won't hit the ground first, just cause the shaft is shallowing more in transition doesn't mean the angle of attack would result in being too shallow =)

Good video. I'm trying to get out of flat swing. Want to see if the steep to flattening of the swing will increase head speed

Why am I just reading up about this now, about steeper backswing. It makes so much sense that the action reaction would help a flattening on the downswing. I've been too flat going back clearly I will be working on this. What grip size would you recommend this this swing. Standard fitting or big larger for comfort. Some players go more in the palms I mean.
@LarryCheungGolf2 жыл бұрын
grip size is personal preference =)

Been noticing my back swing flattened and leading to throwing the hand and shanking, trying to get the feeling of the steep back swing but it’s tough man.

Great content Larry.. can you do a drill on open stance drill for hitting balls pete cowen also uses for better ball striking? is it worth doing ?

Not sure what drill you're referring to =P

Larry. Never heard anyone explain this before. Shaft should be very close to vertical at top of backswing?
@LarryCheungGolf3 жыл бұрын
shaft direction at the top depends on the player but generally like seeing it around 11-1130 oclock if 12 oclock is straight up =)

You still need some sort of wrist set to keep the club outside and to get it steep. Can still easily take it inside without any forearm rotation. Hinging early is actually a good exaggeration to feel what the club is doing. Just look at the waggle of JT or Rickie.
@LarryCheungGolf4 жыл бұрын
The waggle for JT or Rickie is for them, more people in my opinion will benefit from doing it this way than that =)
