@kumquatsta I often burn the roof of my mouth! I don’t know why I do that :) I know from your last comment you mentioned that it was cooling down where you are. I thought you might appreciate the cottage pie, good comforting food. I reckon cheap cuts of steak would work well with this dish. You may need to cook for a while in the pan first to try and soften the meat. Hope you enjoy your cottage pie :) OriginalNakedChef

@Ericules555 I like to cook mine in the pan for a while so it develops the flavours and thickens up the gravy. You are right it does in some way resemble a stew with mash on top! Hopefully you enjoy! All the best OriginalNakedChef

@ZombiedustXXX That’s a great idea to freeze one and eat the other! I know a lot of people use Bisto gravy for cottage pies or Shepherd's pie. Occasionally I use Bisto gravy granules for making gravy, its quick and easy and tastes OK. Good to hear from you and thanks for your ideas! OriginalNakedChef

@westislandkev Hi Kevin, I think a cottage pie or a shepherd’s pie are very popular in my neck of the woods. They are cheapish to make, easy to prepare and great for the cold winter evenings (great comfort food). I must admit I have only every used lamb for the shepherd’s pie and beef for the cottage pie. Chicken or turkey would make a nice change. Let me know how it turns out if you decide to chicken or turkey. Good to hear from you OriginalNakedChef

yo brit chef dude, is this a well-known popular dish in your neck of the woods??? The only thing close to this I've ever made is shepherd's pie and this looks pretty tasty so I'd like to give it a try. I was thinking of preparing this for some non-beef eating friends of mine, gonna try ground (minced) chicken and chicken base, have you ever tried pork or chicken or turkey or lamb? All the best, Kevin.
