I have been following your journey with this car for some time now and am impressed on a whole lot of levels. Firstly, your commitment to your vision and follow through gradually working to the end game. Secondly, you are working your way along in very much the same way us "do it myself" guys tackle our project. Step by step, researching products, suppliers and purpose intentions at each stage. Sourcing what you need then get hands on with each step. Mistakes made (like we all do), rectified and/or lived with, and you don't hide from any of those. Thirdly, your presentation skills, practical demonstration on the how to do it, why to do it and where to do it are exceptional. Easy to follow and in terminology we can relate and understand. Finally, the 'stang. Its a credit to you, looking awesome and just a very classy, well executed build. I applaud you. You have me hooked, all the way from Australia. Onya bloke. :)

I did the same thing using my Taylor wires when I switched out my distributor. Like you I had one of my firing order on the opposite side of the distributor, luckily I was able to rotate the plug end so that they weren't laying on top of each other. I also have a couple sets of the Billet Specialties wire holders, but have not used them yet until the next time I redo my wires and get the 9mm thick wires for a better fit like you've suggested. Car looks go too!

Thanks!! I tried the 8.5mm wires that were on the car before I did this upgrade and they moved around too much inside the wire holder, so the 9mm wires are definitely the way to go. :)

Another great video. I've been wanting to do the exact same thing for a while. Thanks for making it. Nice and clear and no non sense. Just straight good info and nice camera work too. BTW...how were you able to get rid of your old coupe for a fastback in the same color scheme ? Also, how do you like the 347 so far. Looks sweet !
@AndyKruseChannel
@AndyKruseChannel 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks! It was purely coincidence that both cars were the same paint scheme. I like these colors (well, actually the real white and blue, nut the colors the previous owner painted the Fastback), but I wasn't specifically looking for white and blue. In fact, at the time, I was ok with just about any color because most of the cars available were either above my budget or already sold by the time I called about the car. I had to take what I could get, and that included driving 1800 miles to get this one. The 347 is amazing. Spoiler, next Thursday's video is not in my garage. Wink Wink.

Hi Andy, in the end of the video it looks like you struggled a little to plug the coil wire on the coil, did you have any issues with this? did the wire pop off? I think I have an issue with my coil wire, i also struggle to get it to click/make a good connection, I believe its popping off while driving and causing my engine to stop running, ill usually have to put it in park and try cranking it a few times and it will start again. I recently parked the car outside and took the coil wire off for a few days as one of my anti theft devices LOL, so that why i am thinking the coil wire is the culprit.
@AndyKruseChannel
@AndyKruseChannel 4 ай бұрын
Haven’t had any issues. If you have trouble starting your car and then it just starts working, and you didn’t touch the wires, I’m thinking it’s not the plug wires. 🙂

I was just thinking about making my own sparkplug wires for my 289, perfect timing for your video to come out haha. Have you looked into the ZRay Engine Crossmember that ties into the lower control arms? Just got mine in yesterday.
@AndyKruseChannel
@AndyKruseChannel 2 жыл бұрын
Yes, I have seen that crossmember, but I haven't decided on which route I want to go with the crossmember, yet. :)
@brandonduke1903
@brandonduke1903 2 жыл бұрын
@@AndyKruseChannel Are there other similar or better options? I already had a 3 inch plate I was going to weld to the stock crossmember, but when I saw his attaches to the lower arms as well, I bought the normal one from ZRay and welded the plate to his crossmember. I plan on painting the circle bright red or yellow to make it easier to see as my oil pan is black too.

@@brandonduke1903 There are other bars out there, but honestly it's lower on my list, so I'm not digging into which options I ultimately want to go with.

@@AndyKruseChannel the ignition wire mustangs have a resister witch takes voltage away
@AndyKruseChannel
@AndyKruseChannel Жыл бұрын
Yes, that's how I understand it. But what I am not understanding is are you trying to find that resistor wire? Or are you trying to do something different? This video is about making custom length spark plug wires and you're asking about a 12V source for the coil? This is where I am getting confused. :)

What am i missing....? Why does the 289's firing order change after being made into a 349 stroker?
@AndyKruseChannel
@AndyKruseChannel Ай бұрын
Without getting into the weeds, the Windsor firing order is better. Couple that with the cam and crankshaft that are part of my 347 Stroker upgrade, my firing order is now different. I don’t know if all 347 Stroker kits force the change to the Windsor firing order, but it’s worth the change.

You might want to careful about running the 5 and 6 cylinder wires paralel right next to each other because of the firing order. You could have cross firing between the cylinders. On 289s the two to be careful about are cylinders 7 and 8. All of the Ford manuals warn about this happening.
