So simple. Can easily see when they need filling as well. Perfect to put in various locations as well. Cheers form South Australia

Please wash the jar thoroughly after grinding if you do that method. The tiny glass particles can be deadly.

Bettina, you are absolutely right to wash the jars when grinding glass jars. Also, I would add to wear safety goggles, gloves and respiratory mask. Glass dust is very dangerous. Thank you 🐝

It happens to everyone. Usually when feeding them sugar syrup they get the urge to build the burr comb like crazy 😄 Thank you!

That's really cool I like the idea of the last one with the plate looks like you can also put it inside the hive like you did with the ather one might work better
@silverlakehoney2 жыл бұрын
You sure can put it inside the hive on top of the frames. You can also use multiple jars shown as clean water feeders in the summer. Placing the last method in the hive helps prevent robbing and keeps the syrup warmer in cold spring to prevent syrup from freezing. Thank you 😊

I tried the rim and saucer and cloth with rim and saucer and the bees preferred the cloth . However please read my warning about using old t shirts in my comments

WARNING: I made the mason jar feeder with the T shirt skirt yesterday . I used an old t shirt I used for sleeping in. Later in the afternoon every time I walked outside I was followed by bees which has never happened before . I thought I had sugar water residue on my hands or hair. I showered and changed. The feed continued to follow me. They kept coming in the house . I put the sugar away and cleaned all the counters . This morning they were following me around again outside and kept coming in the house and buzzing around the windows if I stood near an open screen. I wondered if they had picked up my pheromones from my old shirt . So I threw the shirt I had slept in outside in my patio . Scout bees have been trying to feed off that dry t shirt on a chair all day. They are hovering at my back patio door and try come in the house as soon as I get close to the door. I have created a nightmare of bee attraction by using a T shirt o had recently worn!! Word of advise - use a new t shirt or one no one in your household as worn. I did not realize how much they would imprint on the scent in the feeder shirt.

Thank you!! We don't have bees but I love to leave water out for them. 9 seconds into the video there is footage of upside down mason jars sitting inside metal rings on a post. Are they simply mason jars with only fabric around the rims? If so, what fabric have you used to keep the water dripping out slowly? (Perhaps the lids are on with holes in the lids like you explained in the video. Just checking with you in case you have only used fabric for those) Thank you 🇫🇷

Thank you very much for helping bees. I use paint straining canvas. You can use something like an old T-shirt or simply punch a few holes on the lid. When you flip a feeder they’re is a vacuum, and it is not going to drip. Thank you 🐝
