Part 2 of the Plate Rack Project involves Steve taking you through the process of squaring up the shaped ends and flattening the timber for the shelves with Hand Planes. Adding the plate channel in the shelves also with hand planes. 6 different Hand Planes are used in the process with handy hints on how to accomplish the same results with power tools. Our Patreon campaign is also launched with this Video so if you would like to see extended versions of the videos we put up on KZbin. Find out how here. www.patreon.co...
We would really appreciate your support as it will enable us to keep free videos on KZbin. Cheers Steve &Bob

Hi Steve, fascinating to watch the hand tool method of flattening, squaring, making faces parallel. I should do more of that, it is nice and quiet. And no sneezing afterward :) But your chisels and planes seem to b

+Michael Anderson Yep, it's a hard job if there're not sharp. Don't need anything fancy. I keep the edge on mine with an oil stone that I've have for over 20 years. I think you can still buy them for around $30.00. Oh, and did I mention Practice? lol Cheers Steve

I'm retired and have been watching Your videos straight with a few breaks in between for about a week now ! Even though we're about the same age or me a bit older, You remind me somewhat of my late Grandfather who was also a master Carpenter he grew up in the 1920's a was very talented & did Beautiful work but growing up through the Great Depression made him a bit bitter and He didn't have Time for kids and we weren't allowed in his Shop period! Anyway Love Bob's rule of the roost & you Wonderful work. You almost had me believing I could Build a beautiful Table with Cabriole Legs but Na, I know better, I've built my own house and 45 ft x 45 ft shop years ago now have a 2 car garage mostly do metalwork and a little rough carpentry but I'm no Artist like You & Bob!

Well thanks for the compliments and feedback. Bob sends a tail wag. I'm sure you would be able to make the table as well, it I can anyone can! Speaking of metal work we are in the process of filming some seasons which will incorporate Metal work and Blacksmithing to go along with the woodwork. Stay tunes. Cheers Steve

Hi Steve. envious of your hand plane skills. even though mine are shaving sharp they still seem to skip across the surface. I converted a falcon 5 into a scrub. but not the best..

+James smith Only practice James, reduce the amount of blade out make sure the lateral centers the blade and plane with the grain not against it. Unless you have HNT Gordon Planes then it doesn't matter. Cheers Steve
