Great DIY product. My input is the 2 hooks that connects to the dock will not stay on the cleat. It would be better to cut the end hooks off, tie the ends together, put the knot in the middle of the PVC pipe to make both ends uniform. Then when dockside, either end of the bungee can attach to the dock cleat.

you just wrap the bungee around the cleat. These aren't only for attaching to cleats.

Looks really useful. Will this work if the side of the boat is about two feet higher than the dock. It seems the stick would touch the side and damage the gelcoat. Has that been tried

Excellent description of all the steps! Question: have you used these yourself on your boat? I'm concerned about a height difference between the dock and the boat using up all the length of the stick, thereby allowing the boat to be too close to the dock. Also, what about making these longer so that the height difference wouldn't be so hazardous?

I wonder how just rope would work instead of bungee? You would loose shock absorption if its real rough. Or if you bought plain bungee cord and hooks and made your own to length. Then you could drill 2 separate smaller holes and feed the plain end cord through a separate hole, then there wouldn't be any way for the cord to pull out on the loop end. Great video think I'll make a few maybe some different lengths.

Question, on the first example I saw they ran the bungee hooks all the way back to the boat and hooked them on the boats cleat. Seems like that would be easier than trying to get them in those holes on the pole. Would the bungees need to be longer than 48" to accomplish that?

Yes you would probably want to go with bungees longer than 48”
