This is how to make easy coil pots. In this video, I cover how to make 3 different types of simple coil pot design. The straight cylinder coil pot, the curved coil pot, and the coil pot with decorative coil designs.
The clay that I'm using here is buff school clay by Potclays. I bought it in the UK from a local pottery supply shop.
If you are outside the UK, something like the following would be a good equivalent:
Stoneware clay: amzn.to/3n4DYLx

I'd guess that making the coils as consistently as you can... without variations in thickness, the more success you'd have. Mine were all wacky!

Thank you very much for this video. I recently joined a pottery class, then realized right away I was in an advanced class rather than one for beginners. I've paid and don't want to quit, however the first few classes have left me feeling rather lost and very inept. This video is perfect. You did a wonderful job showing exactly how to make the base, join the clay and add decorative components. You have inspired me. I feel I can go to the next class and start my project with confidence.
