Nice work! After building a few electric bikes myself over the years, I found placing batteries lower on the bike improves its balance and stability. Also, as a minimum, you want to use at least a 24 volt motor made for continuous use. You'll use fewer amps and can use a smaller/lighter battery over a 12 volt system. Finally, a smaller drive sprocket at the end of the motor will give you more torq at the low end and less strain on the motor. There's a kit already like that.Take care.

You might keep the motor cool by attaching several circular fins around the motor cylinder parallel to the airstream. Use aluminum if possible.

Hola Estimado buen video, con mucho respeto, a modo constructivo. Al soldar el piñón se evaporó toda la grasa ( lubricante del piñón ) y lo otro ese motor es un motor de partida de moto el cual está hecho para que trabaje por segundos, ya que no trae sistema de ventilación ( no se refrigera ) por lo tanto si está sometido a trabajo constante terminará quemándose. Gracias por señalar mis errores, sí, este motor se quemó después de 1 minuto, por fin puedes verlo en el video, (muchos KZbinrs que hacen bicicletas eléctricas con este motor y no se muestran sobre el motor quemado, por eso hago este video Y mostró al final en el video cómo se quemó el motor Gracias

@@homemadecreativee perdoname a mi tanbien por señalarte un error pequeño, pero al soldar el piñon ese adentro lleva unas cuñas agarradas con un alambre de asero para que muelleen y al soldar se calienta tanbien ese alambre y puede perder el asero, no se enoje porque opinamos, ami tanbien me gusta aser cosas asi y yo estoy aprendiendo de su creatividad, felicidades DIOS lo bendiga, saludos desde TEXAS.

You should have removed the bearings before welding. Those steel balls will now have divets in them through arcing as the ground sought it's path. The motor will also have been somewhat damaged through induction of current flowing through it. An excellent idea, just needs a little forethought.

The battery mounted so high is very hard to balance, also that sticks out motor at the rear (out of the rider sight will easy to forget it existence) would most likely hitting some unlucky sole.

I think the battery amperes are lower, so if it is 9 7 amps, the engine will not burn, of course, a good cooling system

Just seems impractical for most bicycle enthusiasts, but, very, very impressive. I do worry about frame, rear y twist, a ton of torque and weight on that rear end. And, today's hub motors are much faster, more torque, more efficient. Buy a Bafang rear hub, I am looking forward what you my do with one.

this idea will only work for a very limited short period of time. Using an engine starter will only help grasp some traction after you got tired of peddaling but the starter motor it would not withstand if this idea is used for a very long period of time eventually it will heat up and would burn the starter motor. To solve this so it would last a bit if you use also a 2 stroke generator motor.

true, me and my uncle built one (although with a slightly larger motor) you can only use it for maybe 25 or 30 seconds, these things get hot pretty fast

Starter motors are designed to be operated for a maximum of about 30 seconds, with a 1 to 2 minute cool-down period between operation cycles. If you try to operate them continuously under load, you will wind up with melted down rotor and stator windings

Please include information for purchasing that very important part the freewheel. Or do I have to cannibalize a regular old bike for it? And the spoke hugger gear please. Now I'm thinking I can get whatever starter motor I want as long as it can push my Mmm mmm down the street at a preferably fun speed. And the appropriately thick sheet of steel that I can drill and form into a mount.
