I appreciate being shown when it's actually ok - sometimes even preferable - to use canned and frozen ingredients. Thanks for making my life easier!

@@lisahinton9682 We rarely use cayenne pepper. Not on traditional dishes. Flavors in Spain are "pure", (sweet, salty, garlicky, acid...), but the "hotness" of chilies or cayenne feels distracting from the true flavors of produce, fish or meat. E.g. When I lived in Ireland all jarred tomato sauces had some level of hotness that was off putting for me and other spaniards. We had to make our own from scratch. Cayenne pepper on a paella could get you deported... ;-D

It was so delicious and is going to be one of my favorites to use all year but especially for when it’s chilly out as it’s so filling. Thank you for posting this so I could get all the ingredients and spices. Delicious, so delicious!

Saw this last night and made it tonight and it was super delicious. Omitted the saffron and added some Hatch chile flakes. Next time I will add a little more liquid just to have more broth because it was so good. Quick, easy and delicious. Definitely going into my rotation for fall/winter. *also used red wine vinegar because that’s what I had.

Made this last night, and it was very tasty. Declined to pay $21 for a tiny bag of saffron, so substituted some turmeric, which I read is a decent sub. The recipe really lends it self to playing with the seasonings to suit your preferences. I also cooked my spinach separately ahead of time because we like it really cooked; short cooked spinach gives me fuzzy tongue. This is a keeper for a good, meatless meal.

Hi from Seville, the saffron is expensive in Seville too, a good "spanish cheap tip" is put with water in a glass bottle and heat it softly in the microwave, like an infusion. Preserve in the fridge and use it when you need it! ;) ---> kzbin.info/www/bejne/eaLGkGelhLigY6c

This was too vinegary for me and I'm a vinegar freak. I think I ate it too warm which might amp up the vinegar. I've never been to andalucia, but I'd guess they're eating this at room temp or only slightly warm. Its probably better to cook this ahead and let it sit quite a bit more than 10 minutes.

The cinnamon dominated everything, so I will not use it if I make this again. Also, didn't care for the texture that the mushy bread crumbs gave it. Too bad, I was looking forward to this recipe. The ATK recipe for escarole and beans is way better than this!

No way i would use frozen spinach over fresh. No 1 and No 1. Fresh will always taste better. If you think not your taste buds are dead.The 2nd no1 is the poor culling of tough stems and other debris found in most frozen veggies. Frozen means your to lazy to deal with fresh.
@geezermann7865

Or it means you don't have fresh spinach, or access to fresh spinach, or access to a store. Frozen spinach can always be available in the freezer. Bu I would not recommend canned , lol. Actually, I prefer to grow my own spinach, but it's a Spring crop.

ATKitchens should talk about how much protein a recipe contains. Today, 25% of teens and 50% of adults over age 40 have hypoglycemia (pre-diabetes) BUT a high content of PROTEIN in foods can prevent hypoglycemia from becoming full-out diabetes. It will prevent vision loss, insulin dependency, loss of toes and feet, kidney disease, damage to central nervous system etc. and death from diabetes. Otherwise, Diabetes must be managed by medicine and insulin which is expensive, inconvenient and has side effects. OR... YOU CAN EAT HIGHER PROTEIN FOODS for improved health.
@UltraViolet.100

@@sandrah7512 -- Thanks Sandra, but I was referring to TALKING about nutrition, ie/. protein, at the end of your demo. People are overweight and need to be aware of protein relationship to diabetes. Expecting someone to go online to dig it out later, then being required to "subscribe" and pay for content is ridiculous WHEN WE HAVE AN EPIDEMIC OF HYPOGLYCEMIA AND DIABETES. Try to be more responsible to your audience. You could simply say : "The protein count in each serving is 10 grams." That way, you're making them aware and providing great info to help eliminate a diabetic health issues.

You tell us it's okay to use a good quality canned chickpea, but then you remove the label. Not getting paid?
@michaelkelly3221
@michaelkelly3221 2 жыл бұрын
@@sandrah7512 I'm sure ATK appreciates you defending them, but until you can coherently explain the practice of showing the name of one product, while obscuring or removing the label of another, your defense wouldn't hold up in court. Claiming they don't accept advertising may well be true. But I've viewed segments where a food processor was used, with the Cuisinart name in full view, in fact, suspiciously pointed directly at the camera as well! Having briefly worked in advertising, I can tell you without hesitation, whenever a product name is in plain view on national TV, it's advertising, whether paid for or not! I'm looking forward to your explanation/defense of this blatant practice of product discrimination.

@@sandrah7512 With all due respect, you apparently missed my request for a coherent explanation/defense, this is just double talk. I would expect this type of defense from someone defending the actions of Alex Jones or Donald Trump. A swing and a miss on your part.

Ok, they don't show the labels because of regular taste test. This show has decades. They plan ahead. They re-test products and apliances. This year best canned garbanzos can be next year worst canned garbanzos. Or discontinued pan or pots. So the segments are separated and you can search them on their site for the latest rankings.
