Love this! WOW. Does anyone else in the world know this? None of my martial arts tutors or physios ever showed me this. I'd like this for the quads, abductors and hamstrings... you could do a whole series 🙂

Haven't read through all 141 comments, but I'd like shoulder external rotation, neck, and thoracic spine. Great video! I had heard of PNF but never really understood it until now.

brilliant stuff Will; this would make for a great series of videos - you could break it up to arm/shoulders. upper back, lower back, upper leg / lower leg... you get the idea :)

Thanks for this tip! I used to have a little ‘waggle’ after the 30 seconds stretch, but this is far more effective. Last week I received your book, wow, so good. You really explain things so clearly, gives far more stimulans when you know the why and how. Compliments!

I've been doing PNF with calf stretches from your video of 5 good morning stretches for several months & it amazes me ( like a magic trick) Anything for the other stretches in the session? Well done. Stay with your breath. Extending the exhale will also signal the body that it’s safe. Easy does it. The ankle mobility Will’s talking about here is key for staying on one’s feet. Best wishes!

Another helpful video-thank you! Please do one for hips. Your hip flexor exercise provided me with relief that doctors couldn’t. This PNF approach seems perfect for hips.

Great stuff, Will. I have the classic text “Stretching” by Bob Anderson and remember reading about the PNF technique years ago but never tried it until now. Makes a massive difference in a very short time. Would be great to see a series of videos on different muscle groups. Best wishes from California.

Thanks. Really excellent advice. Wish I had known this 30 years ago. I'm a fit strong mobile pain free 84 year old lacking some range of motions. Now I know why and will fix it. Stretching properly is as important as muscle toning.

Thank you. Fascinating. I sm 60 and while pretty flexible elsewhere, have very little movement when sitting on floor with legs out straight in a v and then trying to bend forward at the waiste with a straight back. Could this technique work for that somehow? Thanks.

Very helpful, Will. Thank you. I have always been confused as to how long to hold stretches. Some people say hold a stretch a few seconds, do it 10 times and 3 sets. Other people say hold the stretch 30 seconds, for 2 or 3 sets. Can you please show this technique to increase hip rotation and mobility? Thanks again.

Hi, Will, can you use this technique for the neck muscles: I have problems with folding my neck to the shoulder which was caused by whiplash injury in 1993 and I still have problem turning my head without feeling tightness!
