today I show you how to
make Mauritian flaky faratas (mauritian flat bread)
how to succeed and have them very tender and flaky.
Ingredients
1kg of sifted flour
2tsp salt or to taste
4tbsp oil
500 to 600 ml of hot water
oil for spreading over and for cooking
Method
Mix the sifted flour with salt .
Add the oil and mix with your fingers
To make sandy dough .
Gradually add hot water and keep mixing.
Knead until you get a sloth non sticky dough.
Spread some oil on it, cover and set aside for 10mins.
Uncover and divide the dough into 16 small balls.
Flatten each one into large cercle (diameter 30 inch )
Spread some oil and sprinkle some flour over the cercle and fold the 2 opposite sides.
Repeat the process to form a square then set it aside.
Roll out each square into a large square.
Cook the farata High heat (watch the video)
After cooking the farata , foil it and press it to make it more flaky.
Cover the faratas with kitchen towel to make them more soft .
And your farata is ready spread some butter on it and have it with hot tea mmmm sa ki bon🥰
