How to make FreedomPop Sim card work with Reolink Go Camera

We were having an issue where our Freedompop Sim card was no longer working in our solar powered Reolink Go camera. We requested a new SIM and it still didn't work. After reaching out to Freedompop several times and still not finding a solution (because reaching Reolink is basically impossible), I figured it out on my own and I made this video to help you. I am putting the information you will need to enter in notepad on your PC below. All of this is discussed in the video. I HOPE this helps everyone and gives you peace of mind!

Of course! I know the frustration far too well... thats exactly WHY I made this video. Do yourself a favor and just leave freedompop and get Eiotclub.com sims... way less trouble

Extremely helpful! Please note, FreedomPop will tell you to only put in a portion of the file when writing your APN. It doesn’t work! Also, capitalized letters do affect how your file reads. Please be very careful as he mentioned.

For anyone else that stumbles across this. These settings as of writing this work, He did leave out an important part. You need to format the sd card as fat32 for any of this to work.

After I figured it out I was like "definitely making a video about this crap so other people don't have to stress like I did" lol.....

Thanks for trying to help. I followed your instructions and connected the first time, but only once. Even after deleting the new MP4's it won't connect again. Reolink tech support is worthless, they just sent a scripted email in the middle of the night. Guess I will return the cam.

Man I hate to hear that... just fyi... if you guys have att with an unlimited plan, just add a device for 10 bucks and take the sim card out and the camera will work fine.

Jermy, I have the Freedompop SIM card and each time I attempt to validate the SIM card it says the card is NOT valid. I never pulled the SD card to see what files are contained on it. I don't use AT&T but I'm lost trying to set-up my cameras. The cameras are brand new and I purchased Freedompop but no success. I am now going to attempt to use EIOTCLUB SIM card to see if it will work. I sure would like to get these cameras working. I'm in a remote area and am quite frustrated trying to get these cameras to function. Thanks for your video but I don't know if what you provided in the video is what my issue is. I think the issue is me. I'm not a technogeek like my son is. He's good at this kind of stuff and maybe I can get him to come down to do his magic. Thanks again and have a fine upcoming week. 👍🏽🙂

@@758RedwhulfI got 1 camera to connect once. I didn't try the other camera since it was a pain in the rump to get it to operate at all. Dave (Hunting Farmer) wlked me through steps to get it to work the 1st time, then I sent him a text that I got 1 camera to work, once. I went through various cards from various companies. (Verizon, FreedomPop, EiotClub). It worked once with EiotClub. Thanks for asking, Jeremy.

@@758Redwhulf I have Verizon as our cell phone provider but could not tell you what provider works best in this area. I guess I could call different phone companies to find out but other than that, I'm not sure which is the best for this area.

@@houndsmanone4563 I was only asking because you probably can throw the Verizon sim back in there but you have to create the file I showed in this video and just Google Verizon apn settings and either copy and paste it into notepad or either type it all and I would think it would work? Apn basically tells the sim how to talk to the network....

How does the SD card control the signal on the camera? I have Att go and I have had my Go Pt for over a year now. It stopped having signal. Put the Sim card into my phone and it just keeps changing the time and date. So when it does this it kicks the internet off. I have to reolink one does a 350 spin. So redoing the SD card will get my signal back?

It more than likely would, but I can't guarantee that? You may be better off getting one of the Sims I have in my latest video. Pretty much works in any device and hasn't let me down yet! Good people and customer support as well

I am banging my head against the wall. I have done exactly what you did. I also copied and pasted what you added. also from Frredompop, for Andriod and iPhone. FreedomPop actually sent me a link to your video! However, it is still not working. It does work in the phone. Messages, Internet, and Calls. But not in the Reolink

But honestly they are having so many issues with freedompop and these cameras I think we are going to get t-mobile 20 dollar a month Sims with no contract and go that route. It's just getting too ridiculous to keep changing in order to keep.a camera going when freedompop keeps changing mess on their ends and causing the issues

My original SIM card was the data only -- of course when FreedomPop made everyone get new SIMS the data only plan disappeared -- Will the ReoLink work if I pick their most basic plan: 1GB Data + unlmtd texts+wiFi calls + 250min ? or do I have to pick unlimited everything ?

It will work with any other plan they have. If you have att, you can always add a device to your unlimited plan for 10 dollars and then take the sim card out and put it in the reolink and everything will work also...

I just got the Freedompop 1GB Data + unlmtd texts+wiFi calls + 250min sim card at Target for $5. Activated it online for the $15/month. Followed Jeremy's instructions and it connected to the network and in the Reolink Ap it told me that I needed to set a password. After that it worked like a charm. I took out the battery and rebooted it a few times and connected each time. I will use it at home for a few days and then take it to the remote site and install it there. I had this camera working with T-Mobile for about a year before it stopped connecting intermittently. Freedompop uses the ATT towers so I will see if the Reolink will connect more reliably than with T-Mobile. T-Mobile does have a great 2GB/month data plan for $10/month.

That's pretty strange.... try holding reset on the camera and starting over? Must be a life glitch haha.. kinda like the carburetor I put on the other day and cranked the mower and it wouldn't idle down... took it all back off and didn't do anything different and purrs like a kitten! ...... life... lol

Thanks for this video. I have a couple of these Reolink Go Plus cameras and am about to return them. I finally was able to connect them to the network with a FreedomPop SIM card by putting the card into an old phone and making a call. However, I now cannot get it to connect to the app. I try to scan the QR code in the app and it keeps saying "Connection Failed". I know I have about 5 out of 5 bars where I am and when I reset the camera, it confirms that it is connected to the network but I cannot get it to connect to the app. I feel like I have tried everything. Can anyone shed some light and help? I have a PT camera that I was able to get to work, but these Go Plus cameras are ridiculous.

Honestly man... if you will just get the eiotclub sim cards like I have in mine now you will thank yourself every day lol... just look at my other video about them. Been using them ever since making the video and it's worked flawlessly. Freedompop has way too many issues

@@jeffwhipple2658 I made a video of my installing the eiot sim in the camera but it was honestly just as simple as that. None of the having to configure apn settings or anything like that at all. Pretty much plug and play. Doesn't really have anything to do with att at all honestly other then using their towers, but that was all automatic

I purchased a SIM card from AT&T. It keeps saying "Data call failed". It says to check that the data plan is available or import apn settings. I tried following your instructions with same result. I put in att in place of FreedomPop with same result. Any advice?

@@bettiorantes1381 I have another reolink camera with an att sim card in it. The only thing I did was get an old galaxy s5 and put the sim card in to activate the card. After putting it in the phone, just take it out and put it in the reolink and everything should work

What I did with my att reolink that's on my unlimited plan was add an old galaxy s5 to the plan and att sent a pre provisioned sim card for the phone. I put the sim in the phone and made sure the internet was working and I was able to make a call and I removed the sim and put it in the reolink camera and didn't have to do anything. It's my favorite cam because on my plan you bring any device for only 10 dollars a month. If you try and get a sim specifically for the reolink camera they say it won't work based off like the imei of the camera. You can try to add it like that all day but att won't be able to add it. Just get an old phone that's unlocked like I stated and follow those steps and you should be good.

It's because att can't add the actual camera to the plan with the imei of the camera for whatever reason, so adding another device and removing the sim after activation just tricks it into working. Basically the sim doesn't care what device it's in as long as it's associated with a qualified imei but none of the reolink cameras are... but phones are lol. Just activate with a phone and toss the phone in a drawer and use the sim.

Yes you would, but I think they have recently updated the apn information since Making this video... I recommend you get an eiot sim card from Eiotclub.com and it's plug and play

You will need to do the same steps that I talk about in this video except all of your information is going to be different. You will have to either search on Google for call T-Mobile and get their APN setting information. They will guide you through it step by step
