Our 9yo daughter found milk bread at the local Japan shop yesterday and got excited to try making these - thanks to your clear instructions she and our 13yo daughter made their own today (they generously let me have one half!). I have been wanting to do this forever and I ended up buying a shokupan loaf pan. It should be here tomorrow. Marking the bread with the marker to remember which direction to cut it, is pure genius! I am SO glad I watched your video! So beautiful.

One variation that I tried and like a lot: a thin layer of Anko on the bread before adding the cream gives it an additional layer of flavour and texture!

true that Hokkaido have less natural disasters than other places in Japan. but it snows A LOT! but it is a beautiful place. I would recommend it. and yes we do have many natural disasters, but they don't come that often at all. I lived in Nagoya for about 20 years, but never experienced any devastating disasters. most places don't have that many or that often. so I wouldn't worry too much about it.
