Yikes! You'd get in trouble by most BIM manager's in an office doing it this way. Filters are always better than select in view.

Hello, I'm wondering, is there a way to control transparency only for the glass in the window family? For example for Curtain wall in visibility/graphics options, the transparency could be changed for different elements: mullions, panel, etc.... But when I expanding the submenu for windows, the glass category is grey out meaning that only the entire window could be changed from transparent to not transparent. For me, it is quite important as I have a very light facade and black frames on the windows. So when I change the transparency for windows, it makes the frame transparent as well.... and this is very sad. Thank you in advance.

This is not a BIM solution. This is noy a good solution because projexts always change amd the windows will jot chamge automatically to be transparent. A filter îs the real solution but I'm unsure if it works with filters

This is cool, but what about Glass-Railings? Railings doesn't have a separate families which we can "Select All" in the project, hence to make it transparent, the only way is to make the entire railing (Including the handles) transparent... Would like to know if u have a solution for that?

I think making it into two parts( Solid Part + Transparent Part ) is the fastest way to do it XD

Elevations are not supposed to be transparent. Its not "unfortunate" or "for some reason" its not transparent in Revit. It is how it should be and the correct way to show an elevation.

Exactly, it's not about looking "cool", it's about conveying relevant information to instruct how to build the building. I'd never do this...

It's not about what is "supposed to be done". If you want glass to be transparent for presentation purposes then this is a way of achieving that. You are putting so many students and new people off Revit with this type of thinking. This is why people gravitate to SketchUp instead of BIM. Just relax, Revit can be fun too, if you give it a chance!

@@balkanarchitect I agree there's many reasons but it probably needs to reflect in your thumbnails/advertising a bit more. I face similar challenges on my videos from the other side in that most of my workflows are tailored for how offices work, but a student audience often finds them too complex or specific. I'd say most coming at you for this are working in offices where best practices are quite different - they enter the video with a predetermined expetation. Now that you've graduated your longer time audience (who are also graduating probably) will likely expect more professionally grounded workflows and ideas (like filtering) so I'd recommend you try to give both perspectives vs. just presentation/student approach. Hope this helps, not intending for it to be deconstructive to your approach.

I guess there's not one method that is the only one that is "exactly right" if the result of all the different methods is about the same, but still, some are more interesting or efficient than others. I find filters for making glass parts transparent to be one of the more efficient ways. The downside is that Revit LT does not have filters... Anyway, I do not use this for Windows, but for glass railings on hanging terraces to make the glad of the railings half transparent as I think they block too much of the facade, especially when there are many of them. This makes - in my opinion - the elevation a bit more readable. Filters are more efficient as you can incorporate them in view templates which you can apply to multiple elevations/views.
