How to make Guatemalan Cuisine PEPIAN (with recipe) | San Pedro | Lake Atitlan | Guatemala | Ep.61

In this video, my Spanish teacher, Tere, and I are going to show you how to make a Guatemalan Cuisine Pepian with recipe. It's what people eat on their birthday, wedding or important occasions.
We are going to the shop for the ingredients in the wet market and prepare in my place. The recipe is in the middle of the video, clearly listed all ingredients and portions. In San Pedro here, we pay around $5.5 for everything and the food is enough for 4 people. Normally, they also eat with tortillas but we skip it here.
Dry chilies are used in the Pepian but that's for the aroma, it's not spicy at all. The sauce contains nuts which make it very rich and delicious. For those who have allergy, be aware of it since the sauce is very smooth and you won't notice nuts exist.
In San Pedro, restaurants is mostly for cheap eats and western food. You won't see it when dinning out. If you want to try it, you can either follow this video or join a cooking class. If you meet very kind teacher and host, you can ask if they can demonstrate for you.
