I thought of using this to make a costume for The Thing. Just having extra limbs and such is sort of a Thing design trope so I thought why not. And wow this is perfect. My idea was make these and somehow connect one to my shoulder and one to the right sight of my body. Maybe even use some makeup to warp my face. This is going to be the highest effort costume I’ve ever made.

Absolutely you can do it that way. Over time I have found by doing a good base coat of mache first really helps improve the strength of the project.
