Hi, on the knuckles do you make a long wormy chunk. Then split it 5 even amounts?? To make equal ??

Nope I just put a ball of clay on them and press in the wrinkles

Any tips on making paper mache smooth and thick without making the clay?

Best thing as far as making it thick is just lots and lots of layers.. if you tear all the edges of your paper and go with small pieces which is very time consuming you can get strip mache pretty smooth

They are not that bad. I think most of the ones I’ve done are like half a pound maybe

Can I use a hair drier to make the process go faster?

It will help some but it won’t fully dry it

You can put it in oven about 180 degrees. That with dry it.
