Sawine, or vermicelli pudding, is most commonly eaten during festivals and special celebrations like Eid-ul-Fitr. To mark the end of Ramadan, many Muslims indulge in big jugs of the sweet, milky pudding. When flavoured with spices like cinnamon, cloves, and nuts, it’s irresistible.
But traditionally, this comfort food is made with sweetened condensed milk and sugar - not ideal for diabetics and weight-watchers. Instead, this quick and healthy pudding still brings in the goodness of the candied cherries, while substituting sugar with honey as a natural sweetener.
