So I decided to do a life audit recently and I discovered that most of the people that I called my friends were not really deserving of that title. Our values in life didn't seem to align and as painful as it was, I knew that some ties needed to be cut . There are days when I feel super lonely but I refuse to shrink myself in order to be accepted by people who don't even like me that much. I did this last year with a 23-yr old friendship. One of the best decisions ever. Every time we would get together, I started noticing how she had the need to over-shine over me and a few other of her acquaintances. She was always right (she thought). Growing up, I was one of those girls who didn't want to be judgemental and was accepting of everyone (too accepting). I learned through experience, self-reflection and therapy, that I was allowing myself to be a doormat. When I learned to use my better judgement of people and be more selective of who I allow into my life and surround myself with, truly work on myself, have more confidence and boundaries, my circle got smaller, but the quality improved. I have very few women friends I can count on, but they're great friends and I got one of them into your videos. Such a great video! So much truth to what you said about high value being internal. I used to know some fakes who thought it was just about nails, dress code and getting things off men 😂😅 but didnt possess any of the internal qualities. I also agree you align with your friends. My best friend wasnt originally part of my friendship group in school but we connected naturally. It’s not cool to pursue friendship with just ANYBODY but I will say I find it helpful to actually put the effort in to making plans to see each other (as long as u have a solid basis of connection) and learning what friendship may look like for that person looks like/ how they like to be loved platonically. In those initial stages dating your friends and pursuing the connection is amazing! But if it don’t click, don’t force the fit.

I’m glad I happened to see this video in my subscription list because I’ve had an interesting year with some friendships and while doing some personal/professional development courses we had to describe who we were without making what we are or what we do!!! I love it. I lost a couple friendships this year. One was not my choice but looking back at it. I’m so glad. I literally would do anything for her, but it was still never good enough. And then recently I had to let go of one of my best friends over 10 years. The way she spoke to me was so disrespectful on multiple occasions, and when I reached out to her and respectful manner about it, she said, I literally don’t care. I think my problem in finding friends is a result of low self esteem coupled with not getting to know someone on an interpersonal level. Rather because of my low self esteem, I accept most forms of friendship instead of actually working on seeing my value and finding friends of value as well. I often find myself thinking "Why do I actually hang out with this person or talk to this person or give this person time and energy?". I am not currently looking for new friendships because I am trying to dig deep on some mental health work, but I am excited that I will be prepared for any new friends!

I went from making drinking girlfriends who I only talked to at parties and thinking that those were real friendships to making a couple of new friends over the last year who are sober, on a healing journey, glowing up & constantly learning, and SHARING knowledge! My mind is still exploding with gratitude to this day, I truly didn’t know that I could have deeper friendships with women like this. I used to find it easier to open up to men but now I feel like I’m back, I’m loving the feminine energy and I’m feeling like I have some soul sisters in my tribe. My whole outlook on life has been affected by finding these trustworthy & high value women.. I’m receiving advice and ideas that are propelling me so far now. And I used to only receive drunk high fives 😢. You ALL deserve real & true friendships.
