We love making apple butter, I usually cook mine in the slow cooker overnight! Isom's apple cider slushies are the best! I think you've met my brother before, he's in the Harvest area and sells chickens and ducks 😊!

I could drink my weight in their apple cider!! Yes, I bought some chicken from him about 3 years ago. I’m going to contact him for another group in the spring.

I honestly mever realized apples will break down that much on their own. I just thought people always used a blender when makkng apple butter. Ive tried doing apple sauce before but after like 25 minutes and the apples not turning totally to mush i just figured that was as far as it was going to go. It was chunky apple sauce but still tasted good. Im going to try this recipe and make more apple butter soon

Hi. They do really break down well. We also have an Apple Sauce video on the channel.

Would highly recommend in purchasing an apple peeler slicer. I purchased on this previous spring and it has been a life changer

Ha!! My wife just brought one home!!! It’s awesome. She just dried 2 pecks. Took her almost no time to peel and slice.

Sooo, I finally was able to make this recipe and boy did I bite off more than I could chew. I went to a local farm and bought a bunch of apples (not thinking I ended up with too many) and ended up with almost triple your recipe. I had to use two pots to cook it all and when it came time to add the brown sugar I luckily had a big metal bowl to add all of it into at once so I could make sure it all got mixed evenly throughout and I ended up with 25 cups of cooked apple. I wish I could post a photo in the comments but that cooked apple was right at the very top of that bowl. I had to very carefully whisk all the brown sugar in a little at a time before being able to add it all into one pot to finish cooking. Even then with all of the apple cooked down it was nearly at the very top of that pot. In hindsight I should have divided it up between the two pots again because I didn't have much of any room to allow it to boil. So once it heated up most of the way I jarred it all and am finishing the canning using my oven to bring it all up to a high enough temp before letting the jars cool

I definitely will not get that carried away next time and I'll be more conscious about how many apples I end up buying haha. Pretty sure I ended up with at least 17 pounds of apples. It didn't look like a lot at first until I started getting all of it into the pots. Luckily I have an old fashioned apple peeler you hand crank that made the peeling and slicing pretty fast.

I make mine in a crock pot so I don't have to keep checking on them I come back when I have time to stir and when they start to cook down I add more apples

You can also make apple jelly out of the cores and peels if you don't like to waste anything
@useful.knowledge2 ай бұрын
That’s exactly what I did with my peels. Don’t use the cores because have the seeds have traces of cyanide.

I know you put allspice but I didn’t hear a measurement
