Dont hate me for being a deviant and a rebel. I have followed your other jam recipies and jarred them using the oven method and they all have turned out excellent. I made this but I never can resist putting my own twist on things. I quadrupled the recipie, used 1.5 cups sugar per 12 oz of cranberries, juiced 4 small oranges (honestly, they were so small I thought they were mandarins), and added water to the juice to make 4 cups liquid total. Added the zest from the oranges and finally, when I added the cranberries i tossed in a cinnamon stick. Yield: 5 pints and 2 and 1/2 jelly jars. The ping is music to my ears! It turned out so good with a hint of cinnamon and orange to make such a festive flavor for turkey day! I may just crack the half jar and chow down on it straight from the jar for a preview of what to come.

That sounds so awesome!!!!! I’ve got to make it next week!

@useful.knowledge If you use the cinnamon, I suggest, now that I tasted it to cut it back a bit, if you don't like cinnamon to become a dominant flavor. For my quadruple batch, 1/2 stuck may be plenty. But it did make it more in line with those spices we like in our sweets during the holidays.

I'm in Birmingham. Can you recommend a camp spot that I can set up next to my vehicle? I have a van that has a bed in it but might want to set up a tent too.
@useful.knowledge4 күн бұрын
Absolutely!! Tannehill Historical State Park is awesome. They can get busy but the primitive area is just behind the main campground. You can also use the bath house. It’s 20 minutes from Birmingham down 20/59.

Propane @70F weighs 4.11lbs/gallon. So you are getting a little less than a gallon extra.
@useful.knowledge15 күн бұрын
Sounds like that, during the summer, we need to put them in the garage fridge overnight and carry them early the next morning to get them filled. I could definitely get one in my fridge! Worth a try.
@percyfaith1116 күн бұрын
Temperature of the bottle and the propane is an important variable. If you refill your tank on a hot summer day you will get less propane in the tank than if you refilled it on a cold winter day when the tank was chilled.
@useful.knowledge11 күн бұрын

How much pressure are you running? Sounds like it needs more pressure and more air flow.

When I use the orifice that wasn’t drilled out, I got a blue flame, but couldn’t get a variation in flame strength. Ie: high low. Just low… but blue. The drilled orifice (5/64) gets me great heat and height, but orange. I’m baffled.

Standard 20lb propane tank w regulator that doesn’t adjust
@useful.knowledge13 күн бұрын
Ok. Since you have the non-adjustable regulator, you are probably not getting enough gas into the pipe. I think if you get a hose with an adjustable regulator, that should work for you

how come no one ever includes the time and mileage difference for the different options. My roundtrip of 1 mile exchange vs 20 miles for refill yield an additional 19 x $0.67 = $12.73 for refill. There are times I can plan other activities near the refill so the extra $12.73 is less or nill. So exchange is cheaper when I gotta have it now!
@useful.knowledge18 күн бұрын
Good point. If you have to travel that far for a refill, the travel cost needs to be added in. Thanks for sharing.

Guys I can’t find the answer anywhere. I’m trying to make a super acidic meal. Does adding water as in stews or soups decrease the acidity(increase the ph) and so water should be avoided? Thanks
@leevons_home_vids21 күн бұрын
Sooo, I finally was able to make this recipe and boy did I bite off more than I could chew. I went to a local farm and bought a bunch of apples (not thinking I ended up with too many) and ended up with almost triple your recipe. I had to use two pots to cook it all and when it came time to add the brown sugar I luckily had a big metal bowl to add all of it into at once so I could make sure it all got mixed evenly throughout and I ended up with 25 cups of cooked apple. I wish I could post a photo in the comments but that cooked apple was right at the very top of that bowl. I had to very carefully whisk all the brown sugar in a little at a time before being able to add it all into one pot to finish cooking. Even then with all of the apple cooked down it was nearly at the very top of that pot. In hindsight I should have divided it up between the two pots again because I didn't have much of any room to allow it to boil. So once it heated up most of the way I jarred it all and am finishing the canning using my oven to bring it all up to a high enough temp before letting the jars cool
@leevons_home_vids21 күн бұрын
I definitely will not get that carried away next time and I'll be more conscious about how many apples I end up buying haha. Pretty sure I ended up with at least 17 pounds of apples. It didn't look like a lot at first until I started getting all of it into the pots. Luckily I have an old fashioned apple peeler you hand crank that made the peeling and slicing pretty fast.

My homemade burner on my pig cooker About a year ago stopped lightning near the Venturi and the burner only has flames at the capped end when I try to light the end close to the Venturi the flame on my torch gets blowed out
@useful.knowledge15 күн бұрын
Hi. Check the orifice to make sure some rust etc has not stopped it up slightly causing higher pressure. Sounds like the gas pressure is too high. I have to clean out the orifices in mine every summer because of mud daubers.

Man I feel you! So the half doors helped with the dust? I have same machine in a crew and have gone back and forth with front windshield, back windshield then back to no windshields because the dust is unbearable. I want a see of the fortress half doors if they help with around 60 percent of the dust. Thanks for sharing
@useful.knowledge28 күн бұрын
The dust is absolutely terrible. I put the doors on and it really helped a lot. Still had dust boiling in from the lower part of the door so put the foam on. It made a world of difference. Polaris should get a team together and figure this out.

I recently watched a video where a guy did the calculations and 20 lbs of propane in a 20 lbs tank is perfectly legal. He cited the documents and codes to prove his claim. The 20 lbs of propane still allows for expansion. Here’s a link to the video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/opWxhIeJns2iaK8si=DdGIWmT1BMUeP8J8
