Oh I bet that smelled amazing while it cooked down. Also it makes me wonder how much more you'd have to reduce it down if you wanted to get granular sugar out of it

The juice was like drinking sweet. There’s some additional steps but I may try it. This summer, I only grew 3 pods but I’ve got 20 pods planted for next summer.

I like watching your videos , I would like to say that for what you paid for thoes two toy cane mills you could have bought a real cast iron mill, also next time put some fire under the cooking pot and get it boiling , a small pot like that souldn't take so long to make syrup, if the syrup isn't cooked enough it will mold in the jar.

Ok. I do have a cast iron cane mill. It cost me nearly $3000 brand new about 5 years ago. All three of us at Useful Knowledge have served our country in some capacity so I did want and purchased the US made mill. It’s a piece of junk sitting in my barn. It has not made it through a season without breaking. Mostly sprockets that cost $125 each. The design is also crap because pieces of cane get up underneath the lid and ferment. Because of this, I would have to spend about 1.5 hours taking it apart and cleaning it every night. So I can purchase a complete stainless steel press for what it cost me to replace two sprockets on the cast iron press and it’s a huge pain to swap sprockets. Also, I have two complete seasons on one of the inexpensive (but not designed stupid and cheap) presses with no failures and one season on the second one shown in the video. No failures and they clean up in 15 minutes. One more thing, if one of these break, I have a spare that can be set in position and running in about an hour. Sure I could cook it faster but how I do it works and does not scorch it. It boils, just watch later in the video. I appreciate you watching our video. I don’t go on KZbin to complain about this expensive press issues but this is my experience with it.

@pecangrovems Hi. Absolutely!! It is a great idea and works up here in North Alabama. I’ve got 12 “pods” out there this year. Appreciate your work!
