Do I have to use buttermilk??? What about whole milk. I need to know this asap
@asimhusain80873 жыл бұрын
I think you can make milk into buttermilk by putting a little lemon juice in it

i have a cat that likes to sit in the window behind my kitchen sink while i cook. she stays there and never on any other cabinet or surface in the kitchen . i know she is just a cat , but if she and all the people complaining about your cat in the comment section were in a burning building , i'd run in to save my cat ..........

Can you use gluten free flour for this? Also is this batter good for making clam fritters? Would love a gluten free apple fritter recipe too if you know of one. These look great. Thanks!!🙋
@JanCharles5 жыл бұрын
Oh wow - great questions. Ok - first - yes you can use the King Arthur Measure for Measure in this, and it'll be fine. I made the cornbread for my niece's shower with that product, and I liked it a lot. Easy to use, high quality results. Also - yes, you can make clam fritters with this recipe. I'd use a smidge more buttermilk, and about half the garlic - otherwise you'll lose the clam flavor. Amp up the black pepper - oh now I want some, dangit. I haven't done gluten free apple fritters, but I'd say you can do the base recipe with Measure for Measure, a bit more buttermilk, and sub in a bit of vanilla, cinnamon and nutmeg instead of the garlic. Finely chop your apples, and then Katie Bar the Door - you're a rock star! Serve them with powdered sugar and good applesauce.... ooooo - nice!

I made them and mine were too dry, and dense. I backed off on the buttermilk. I guess I should have added the whole cup.

Oh the boys can tear up some hush puppies - especially Ricky! Some times, depending on the dish, I have to shoot when they aren't home. Peach ice cream will go up soon , and watch for Bladen sneaking it right out of the batch.

Stephanie Sanders I agree with you 100% , to me that is just NASTY and a deal breaker allowing any animal to roam or hang out in the kitchen.
@karanharris62082 жыл бұрын
And the recipe probably has cat hair in it since the cat is on the counter about 2 feet away. How on savory a thought.

Pro Tip: If you add too much buttermilk to begin with? No need to remove it...Just step away and act busy, Some fool will attempt to finish for you.

I have to be honest here. I might sift the crumbs out of the oil but thats it. Oil is oil and I know Gordon Ramsey wont walk through the door and ask for a chin check. My oil is 4 months + and I'm still alive.

All these comments about the cat crack me up. You whiners should go in the kitchen of your favorite restaurants and see what’s hiding in them. You’d be surprised.

That cat in the background is a deal breaker when it comes to cleanliness in my kitchen or any kitchen I’d even consider eating from. I’m sure you’re recipe is great but I can’t watch any more.
