Lori,your hair is looking so nice today! I never fry anything in oil like this - only saute in a little olive oil or a little peanut oil (or broth) in a saute pan or non-stick wok.When I was on a Rd trip down south,though,I did eat some great hush puppies.I am sure yours are even better! I love watching your cooking creations because I study American regional cooking , you and Mr Brown are so genuine, and you put a lot of love into your food!!!

I do grate my onion up for hushpuppies,but do use spices so not like just cornbread. I change mine up each time. Good stuff. Yours fried up good. Enjoy your fish w your hushpuppies. Its a good thing.

Hush puppies, a small cup of honey, some baked pork and beans or bacon and beans, and a cold side of slaw. I am grateful that i can create tastes that people love. My Mama was not a cook. But she would say, “Debbie, i don’t like to cook. Are you sure you are my daughter? 🤣🤣🤣🤣But you go on. And I’ll eat whatever you cook.” A wonderful compliment. I miss my Mama. 😞

From one Arkie to another (we live about 3 hours West of you in the Ozark Mtns) those hush puppies were so light and fluffy. We had catfish for supper and I decided I would use your recipe. Grating the onion is a great idea! My kids always hated onions in anything. I got to the point that I grated the onion just like you did, so you get the delicious flavor, but no crunchy onions. BTW... I LOVE hushpuppies! 😋😋

One of my favorite things in the world, is hush puppies. With grated onions and sometimes fresh corn.. I dip them in ketchup. There is really not much difference between fresh cornbread and fried hush puppies. Could you imagine dipping cornbread and to ketchup?!?🤪

I cook fish once a week and always have hushpuppies, so I tried freezing all the left over puppies, popped them thawed in the oven and they crisp right back up...fantastic idea and a time saver for sure..
