I also have a recipe for making sweetened condensed milk and it works in recipes just like the canned one. 2/3 cup sugar 1 cup powered milk 1/2 cup boiling water 3 Tbsp melted butter Put into blender and blend for 1 minute. I have a professional model Kitchen Aide and then bought a Bosch I will say the kitchen aide cannot match the bower of a Bosch plus you can make multiple loaves of bread in a Bosch and it never bogs down plus I have burned out 2 kitchen aides and I still have my Bosch Mixer which has given me no problems. As far as looks I find My Bosch to look modern and clean on the counter

Hi Becky. I don't know if you know how to make your own Brown Sugar. Its Sugar And Molasses. The more Molasses you add the darker it will be. Also to stop Brown Sugar from hardening up you can buy a terracotta bear at bed bath & beyond. Or if you have a broken terracotta pot you can just make sure you wash it really good and just drop it in there with the brown sugar and it does the same thing.

For years I only used powdered sugar to make whipped cream for pies at Thanksgiving and Christmas. I had one extra large bag of powdered sugar last me probably 7-10 years! At the time I didn’t realize it had a starch in it or I wouldn’t have kept using it all those years since starches can go bad. Still it’s funny every year I would pull out that same ancient bag of powdered sugar. It was sort of sad the day it was all used up. All the holidays it had been a part of with family no longer here. :’(

I do want to clarify that Sugar Beets *can be* a GMO crop but unlike corn which almost always is beets aren't necessarily (though it is very common). Why is this important? Sugar Beets can be grown pretty much anywhere, unlike Sugar Cane which has to be imported from the tropics (leading to both environmental costs, and human rights issues). So for those of us who are trying to buy local/regional Beet Sugar can be a good choice. It really comes down to personal values.

I just looked at the icing sugar ingredients we get and it says “icing sugar, tricalcium phosphate”. The price difference is big too, for 1kg of icing sugar it’s £1.70, for 1kg of granulated sugar it’s £0.65! Or if you buy a 2kg of granulated sugar it’s £0.62 per kg and 5kg of granulated sugar is £0.65 per kg. If you want caster sugar which is what I use for baking that’s a finer granule it’s £1.60 per kg! So you can save so much money just by blitzing up your own! There’s no option of organic sugar in the store I’m looking at either x
