Daizz's Tips-Pollen are perishable and must be used fresh, so the sooner you use it after the flower opened the better it is.The stigmas are most susceptible to pollen directly when the flower opens in the morning. Try to pollinate as early as possible. It may be wise to move the plant into the shade until you have the opportunity to dust on the pollen.

I have hibiscus hybrids. They produce floweres as large as dinner plates. Last summer I followed your video and cross pollinated my giant red with my giant white. So far success as I did get seeds! Woo Hoo I’m getting ready start those seeds indoors today and if all goes well my new little plants will be ready for planting in mid May! Wish me luck!

I hand pollinated and so far the pods are falling off when green. What does that mean ?

I had mine fall off on a windy day. Get some soft netting and very gently wrapped it around the pod You can use a bread tie or staple it That should help from anything knocking it off. Good luck. Let me know how you make out.

Update. Since posting this I’ve crossed my hybrids with my standard Hibiscus as well and now have 12 different species I’ll be planting those seeds indoors soon so their ready for summer. I m so excited to see what my new species look like.

Mine aren't producing seeds. I am not able to cover them as the stigma is larger then the petels in my variety. The pods either fall or they don't produce seeds. Don't know what am I doing wrong. Have red, pink, and japanese lantern.

Hello! Do you have (or could you make) a video of the color results of the hibiscus crosses. I working on a bunch this year as well and just curious which combinations will create what colors. BTW the plants germinating from these seeds will take the colour of the mother plant..or it also depends on the other/polinator plant? Also can we polinate with other flower of the same plant?
