I built this. Flies really slow and takes off from water just like in video. Mine weighs 243g with battery. I used a bit different foam and hot glue everywhere but it all works. Also made wing two-part so it fits better inside a car. It would be even slower and take off quicker if it was more light. Thank you.

Don't seem to have 3mm XPS (the orange foam) underlay in sheets here in California, all I can find is rolls of XPS and looks too flexible. Any suggestions? The Depron is the white foam? Could I use 3mm Depron for the thin parts and 6mm Depron for the thick ones?

Yes, you can use the Depron, an extruded styrofoam around 20kg/m3 or any similar styrofoam (extruded with small bubbles). You have also the EPP sheets used in aeromodelism like the Graupner Vectro which is even better than the Depron (easier to fold, and far stronger to dents).
