If you want to keep the number of beads the same, you would make one increase at the beginning of each row, as she does in our How to Do Brickstitch Bead Weaving video.

Thank you for your excellent tutorials. I am expanding my brick stitch skills and learning shaped brick stitch. I have the increase by one bead down, but my pattern has a two bead increase. How is that accomplished?

Hi I'm having trouble doing the increase at the end of the row. Mine feel wiggly and not secure like yours. Any help is greatly appreciated. I'm going to keep watching your video while I bead so I can see what I am doing wrong. Thank you for teaching this
@beadaholique
@beadaholique 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Bev, that first pair of beads might feel wiggly at first but you can always reinforce it by doing an extra thread pass or try simply continuing and then the row that will eventually go on top of each row will make the one beneath it feel more secure. Also if you are doing a straight line like a diamond shape you can run your thread along the edge beads at the end for added stability. When you are learning we recommend using Miyuki Delica Beads because of their cylindrical shape. They fit together very nicely. I’d go with the 10/0 or the 11/0.

I’m new to this and I increased and decreased as shown for about 25 tows and the one side of my piece ended up looking off, like all the extra thread in one side of the piece made the beads stack up more on the one side. How do I avoid this lopsided look? Thanks!
@beadaholique
@beadaholique 3 жыл бұрын
The thread should tuck in, but perhaps the tension was off. If you see here is this example the threads tuck in. I would try to give it another go beadaholique.com/products/pink-sands-brick-stitch-bracelet If you’re still having trouble send me a DM on Instagram or one our other socials with a photo of your work (KZbin's not great for sharing photos unfortunately), I might be able to better diagnose the problem from there.

If you go up the last bead of current row, instead of going gown a row, you can naturally decrease. As in, going up the bead will put your needle in the perfect spot to use the second thread from the end on the just finished row, pick up two beads, and use the "loop" to the left, then once you come up the second bead (of the first two you are adding for your "new" row, you can then just continue on one bead at a time to end the of the row.

You can use the ladder stitch technique. Using the ladder and brick stitch techniques will allow you to make custom shapes. Here is a direct link to the video on our site: beadaholique.com/products/how-to-make-an-increase-in-brick-stitch-using-ladder-stitch Thanks for watching!

Much better to use the same tread bridge at the end of the increase row and back loop through the last 2 as you would at the beginning.. that way you don't see the diagonal tread down to the next row as seen here..
