I tried these cookies but used butter instead of shortening. Substituted the same amount as the shortening in my batch but made sure I chilled the dough before scooping. Worked perfectly and they did not spread. 😊 I thought I would share!

These are delicious! I had carrots that needed to be used before they went bad and I'm so glad I tried this recipe. I used butter (added 1tbsp more) and decided not to chill the dough. They came out of the oven looking perfect.

I been making these for years. I do more then one batch at time and will freeze them so I have them on hand for when company comes over. The orange flavor comes out more doing this too.

These are fantastic! I just had a minor problem when cooking the carrots 🤦‍♀️, but once that was done, making the cookies were a breeze and the orange glaze on top is so good!

I love love love these cookies. I did the original recipe and thank altered shortening with butter. Honestly there isn’t any difference. I didn’t have an orange so I used a passionfruit icing which was delicious. And since I also didn’t have an ice cream scoop I used an icing bag with a wide opening. It turned out great. Thanks for this delicious inside into your history.

Seriously folks! You will be making extra carrots on a regular basis when you try these. So fluffy, soft and extremely decadent . I had a hard time keeping my family away from these while they cooled. My Hubby asked me how many he could have in one setting. These are a must try. I added walnuts to mine and they were amazing! So easy too!

In the UK it’s Trex, Flora White, or Cookeen. It’s vegetable shortening

Pretzels are kind of like donuts in that they are really only good for one day. But you can store them in plastic and they’ll still be fine two or three days later

The consistency is like butter but a tiny bit stiffer. I just looked at what mine says on the can and it says "all vegetable shortening" right below the brand name Crisco on the label.
