Growing up in Montreal, we had only one type of Jamaican patty : Patty King. Ubiquitous. It was decent but I always suspected the OG patties in Jamaica or the homemade ones had to be out of this world. This video has confirmed my hunch. Edit: I think it’s beautiful how Jamaicans took the Cornish Pasty, which is - in all honesty - like all British food quite mediocre, and made it into something so wonderful and delightful and gave it back to the world ❤

When he said "quality beef" he wasn't BS'ing one bit. If you use ground beef that has fat-added to it, then you'd forsure want to drain it, unlike he did here. Called many things, most times called "finely texture beef". Basically the cheapest ground beef you see, is about guaranteed to be this. Look for "round ground" or "sirloin ground" to avoid it the most. Dead give away when you break open ground beef and the middle is brown, means it's been exposed to air and is not just a fresh ground beef.

@@_jodii876 Juici can sit down more while stills. Notice it's Juici without the y, cause dat ting dry. Tastee(top boss to this day) and Mother's holding the fort in my book. -sips Milo-

This Jamaican patties recipe is ten times better than others I’ve tried on KZbin. Had no shortening so just used more suet. Amazing!!!

I am looking for an authentic Jamaican Patties recipe for my husband. He loves them but I had never taste one. Is this a authentic one with gelatin ? I am lost. You have one to share ? Thanks

He also won chopped and was featured on TVJ. I'm sure he hit the right flavour notes that a true Jamaican understands but the patty could have looked a bit better. I wil definitely try this recipe, it's as authentic as it comes.

Thumbs up because you gave a nod to the Cornish pasty. Admittedly you've gone and made it better and who can argue with cheese? I'm gonna make these for my family when I go back to Cornwall
