What I want to know is do they stagger the finger joints when laminating the boards together because I would hope not all the finger joints of each board are in the same area that they are even distributed

My home made one is not built this badass and scientific. Lol. Titebond, nails and I'll run oak dowels at my ends just because.. then carriage bolts flush..

What kind of glue is using on this video? Thanks,

I learned how to build a structural glue lam beams before they were commercially made or sold. It's not rocket science and any journeyman carpenter worth their salt should be able to build a structural GLB that should structurally out perform any commercial made GLB beam. I use 5/8 all thread nuts and washers placed at ends and every 4ft in-between along with heavy layers of Tight Bond Wood Glue to secure everything together. Placement of 60 deg face cut with a 45 deg bevel cut centered in-between the bolt placement is IME is a much stronger way of tying the beams and lengths of lumber together. Learning and knowing how to use this style of beam building can be used to create and build things that most architects can't even draw.

Thx, but I can't quite follow what ur saying towards the end on ur construction method. So if u ever post a video on how you do it. Pls give me "heads up" so view at it. I looking for a way create GLB, with mortise and tenons built in to them. And still need better understanding of the basic like lumber selection and orientation too.

Titebond clearly states it is not meant for structural purposes with any of their glues. People like you are why there are architects and engineers.
