A bit of a question here that's slightly related--when working with bass (I use Hybrid 3 though this happens with many of the ones I use), how come sometimes it gets super "fuzzy"? Like when the notes are too low they get fuzzy and its super irritating and I can't exactly EQ it out without removing the entire bass, but if I move the notes up an octave they're too high pitched. I've heard such smooth basses in many lofi tracks but I can't seem to nail it. Have any guidance?

Good video! But why is it called house? It sounds nothing like house.

So it’s chill out/downtempo? Still sounds nice. If it is house, then it’s closer to 00’s Ibiza. I’m working on a self-remix of my own track where I’m interpreting “lofi house” as just that: house made with dusty sounding drums and dirty vintage sounding mixing. Kind of like a “beat tape” version of house.

@@WillHatton I found that: "The main difference between house and lo-fi house lies in their production quality and intended listening environment. House music is typically made for the club, with long, hypnotic, repetitive tracks that are DJ-friendly and great for dance parties. On the other hand, lo-fi house is characterized by low-fidelity production, including elements like distortion, background noise, and cassette emulation, and is more suited for home listening. It is usually sample-heavy, forlorn, and blown out/distorted sounding, with a more melancholic feel. While both genres share some similarities, such as a 4/4 beat, their production style and intended atmosphere set them apart."(1)(2)(4) "The origins of lo-fi house music can be traced back to the late 2010s, as a niche sub-genre that emerged as a combination of lo-fi and house music. The term "lo-fi" stands for "low fidelity," which essentially means relatively imperfect. It is characterized by elements like distortion, background noise, heavy reverb, and other noticeable imperfections. Lo-fi house arose as a web-based phenomenon that started online and gradually gained popularity, eventually making its way into bars and clubs. The genre is known for its low-fidelity production, including the prevalence of distortion, fuzz, drums laden with dirt, and cassette emulation over a house beat, capturing a minimalistic and vintage aesthetic(2)(3) While the exact pinpoint of its genesis is not clear, the genre's roots can be linked to the DIY ethos of punk, cassette culture, and the rise of modern digital audio workstations."(4) The term "house" in lo-fi house music refers to its connection to the traditional house music genre. While lo-fi house has its own distinct characteristics, it shares a 4/4 beat and other elements with traditional house music. In fact, some of the earliest house tracks exhibit similarities to contemporary lo-fi house, particularly in their low-fidelity production. Artists in the lo-fi house genre have expressed a fascination with the old-school sound of house music, which they seek to emulate through their own craft. This connection to house music is reflected in the name "lo-fi house," as the genre combines the low-fidelity qualities of lo-fi music with the rhythmic elements of house music.(2) (1) www.reddit.com/r/House/comments/s8ok6h/difference_between_minimal_and_lofi_house/?rdt=59433 (2) www.stereofox.com/articles/everything-you-need-to-know-about-lo-fi-house/ (3) www.one37pm.com/music/lofi-house (4) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lo-fi_music So, punk ethos eh? I like that! I am a little fed up with over produced EDM that sound like pop music.

Lofi House to me is more like mixes from Katarakt and Dreaming Files. More Raw than chill vibes. Mall Grab is one of the top producers but not now anymore (he's focus on Techno stuff now).

@@olafsigursons Julien Earle did a really great lofi house tutorial on his channel. kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y17NYauCZa2GgJY i thought it was pretty interesting. It's really all in how you mix it. So you're not choosing from crappy samples. He takes the effects off each of the tracks and it's just a classic house track that sounds like you're standing at the coat check waiting for your coat getting ready to leave the club.

Why does EVERYONE make House music on Ableton ? I'm geting left with the impression that if I have Logic X I can't make as good LoFi House music and that it's over for me. Can't I make House music on Logic? I don't know how to use Ableton, I have missed my life opportunity.
