Your tracks sound wonderful! I used to freak out a lot with this subject. And I still do. I thinker and thinker and thinker. And I make mistakes. But like you said, in the end it's our song and we do the best we can with what we know. It's part of evolution. I received compliments on songs, never on my mastering skills. That says enough. People out there that listen to the work we put out couldn't care less about that stuff. That's an aspect of overthinking that I learned to tone down. They do not listen the same way we do so there's no point in having a meltdown because it's not well mastered. And it probably never will. That's why people that study the craft for years exist. One step at a time I improved and now the mastering phase is not as bad as it used to be. I still do not know what I'm doing, but I sure know a bit more than I used to! I don't know if this is a good tip or not - like I said, I'm a total noob at this - but I use the saturator across the channels to tame the peaks a bit. I find that when it gets to the master it helps me get a bit more volume!

Couldn’t have said it better myself! Don’t stress and enjoy the process both in creativity and education! I for one am looking forward to looking back on this video in a couple of years to surely think “what was I doing!?” but it certainly does the job for now 🤗

Hey Will when I put the utility like you on mid/side and push it down to 100 I can't hear my track. What am I doing wrong?

awesome video. I have incorporated your mastering technique in my latest production. I would like to know more about the Chain groups, what's the purpose, or how do you use this group in the mixing/mastering process? Is there a video where you explain this?Thanks!

How do you guys route your Reverb Send? Straight to Master, Pre Master or Chain Capture?
@WillHatton11 ай бұрын
Good question and I’m not sure I have the right answer but I tend to go pre-master. I might learn that this is bad practice in future so happy to have my mind changed!

This is easilyy the most helpful video I've seen on this subject! One question though, and maybe I missed it...but what did you place in the Basic Chain? Nothing? Or perhaps...a limiter?
@WillHatton2 жыл бұрын
Just a limiter, limiter central baaabyyyyyy!

Where can I find a compressor that is closest to this glue compressor? Mine doesn't have this EQ thing where you can narrow in on Hz.
@WillHatton11 ай бұрын
Are you using Live Suite? If so, you just need to open up the sidechain option (That little triangle in the top left of your glue compressor) it's a built in device.

Can you make a video of your setup?

I know you skipped over it in the video, but could you give a quick description of the "sc sender" track and how that is setup here in the comments maybe?

2 questions. Where do I route my verb and delay returns and where to u put my sidechain ducking vst to duck the kick?
@WillHatton2 жыл бұрын
Hey Shawn, you can route your returns to the pre-master. They’re not integral to this tutorial so hence why you don’t really see them! I can’t answer your sidechain kick because it’s your project! 😂 Put it wherever works for the song you’re creating!
@toniverz_lofi Жыл бұрын
Does this routing also apply to lofi music or just Skrillex type of music?

By the way did you put an EQ on the Sub Chain?
@WillHatton2 жыл бұрын
Just to roll off some of the highs!
@shefe8022 жыл бұрын
@@WillHatton And on the basic chain did you have any limiter or eq?
@WillHatton2 жыл бұрын
@Teodor Stoyanov Edit to previous reply ^ apologies I was replying late before jumping into bed... - There's no eq on the sub chain, just a limiter with the ceiling set to - 0.50 - The basic chain has a default limiter and EQ (rolling off the first 100hz) - The final chain has just a limiter at default setting. The vid is a step by step guide, you should be able to follow! :)
