Gotta start bending with a plastic hammer and anvil lmao. I suppose crafting a signet out of the same plastic isn't too far from the realm of possibility. Great vid brother. THIS IS THE WAY
@StoneFistedProps5 жыл бұрын
Yes Signets can be made from sintra in the early stages of making the armor. Also might I suggest another method, sort of a combination. By using g (depending on your location) some sort of Mixable Resin putty that Hardens like Green stuff, lilliput or epoxy sculpt. To make you're signet, I would Cutout the base from Sintra then Sculpt my signet on top to give it a more 3 dimensional look. I'm waiting on some epoxy sculpt and will be doing a small tutorial for the next set of videos. So stay tuned
@lanedouglas66905 жыл бұрын
@@StoneFistedProps Awesome I can't wait to check that out. I was thinking that a guy could take a chunk of sintra and taking some different tools to it, and sand it like you did on the edges. Then glue the finished signet to a shoulder piece. I am at the very beginning of learning how to do all this stuff, but I think I want to build a heavy infantry type of mando gear. I'm strongly considering using this method of building the parts that kinda pay tribute to the old mounted knights but is still Mandalorian. I'll have to be creative with the design but it seems like a fun challenge.

This all depends on your Measuring and template skills, storm trooper armor has a lot of smooth complex shapes. which is why they chose to go the original route and vacuum form the parts. however with enough patience and ingenuity i'm sure you could make something amazing.

Let me ask you this question can you use heavy plastics if you do not have Sintra, I have a huge amount of heavy plastic I have collected up everything from thick plastic used for lawnmowers to heavy tote plastic to light tote plastics?
@StoneFistedProps5 жыл бұрын
The Problem with The heavier tote plastics is they Are Manufactured with a Process that Makes them retain there molded shape. My Very first armor was made from Garbage Can plastic. However It was super Hard for me to retain a shape, so I abandoned it for Sintra. That being Said Test a 2x2 piece And Heat it See if you can work it to a Shape, If it retains the new shape after cooling then your Good to go. Keep Me Posted on your Progress and If love to see what You come up with. Also feel free to ask any questions you need.

It goes without saying Research into what your final design will be, next important step is getting the correct size templates for your body shape and size is crucial. Paper is cheaper then plastic so skipping this step will cost you later if you don't properly size your Armor templates. Also joining the Mandalorianmercs.org forums can be an invaluable tool in seeing the thousands of available options taht may spark your creativity. Aaaaaannd ... I think I’m going to make Grace be Sabine. Lord help me LoL Also ... any tutorials on female armor building you can recommend? I was searching on the Mando website, but didn’t find templates. Probably user error LoL 🤷🏻♀️
@StoneFistedProps4 жыл бұрын
Worbla would need to be backed and wrapped around Eva, and You would have to work a bir harder to get a smooth Finnish as the Worbla has a noticeable texture to it. but once it hardens you'll have the same strength. More steps involved for Worbla but can be used.
@MichaelTotin3 жыл бұрын
Sintra isn't a thermoplastic, its expanded PVC. Worbla is a thermoplastic and they are both brandnames.

How thick should the sintra be??
@StoneFistedProps5 жыл бұрын
Sintra can be anywhere from 3mm (What I use) to 6mm or thicker. Just remember the thicker you Go Tbe Harder it is to Cut and maintain clean lines. What I always suggest to people is To Layer 3mm sheets and pieces to Build up Thickness and dimension were you Need it. I'm Currently working on a Video where I do just that on Some Legacy Mandalorian Armor and Gauntlets. Be sure To be subscribed and tick that Bell to be Notified. And thank you for being part of this Channel.

Where should I buy the sintra
@StoneFistedProps4 жыл бұрын
That All depends on where in the world you live. My Suggestions are as Follow. 1st check you're local Sign shops, sometimes you can score free Sintra That to them are Scraps But Would be large enough for you to Build with. Another option is Amazon.com however the sheets will Be Cut Down to More Mailable sizes so You Would have to Piec two together to Do say a Back Plate. But you can Have it shipped to you. I Get mine locally from A Supplier/Manufacturer that I buy 4foot by 8 foot sheets from for roughly $30 a Sheet. I acan Make Two to three Armor sets Minus Helmet and Gaunts from one single sheet.

@StoneFistedProps4 жыл бұрын
Each Template Has a Ruler Key Marking You have to size them Up Or down by percentage Also Uncheck scale to Fit. If you're Printer supports poster printing use that as well. Also Checkbthe box that says Crop Mark's. All Printer manufacturers are different and without seeing what you Have that's the Best advice I can Give. I will see if I can do a Quick tutorial this weekend on Scaling and Sizing

Hey Nedd I may have told you at the armor party my modern templates were too small (they were the 5ft templates)so they recommended legacy. But I think I really want to do a modern kit. Did you use the templates 6ft plus from MMCC or did you draw your own?

How come EVA foam isn't used all that much in the SW community? Is it because it isn't as sturdy and resilient?
@StoneFistedProps7 жыл бұрын
+Sam Chung there Are several Factors for this Let me see if I can Break it down a Bit for you. You See While Eva Is a Wonderfull,versatile Material its Not Used by the Actual main Starwars Groups Because 1. It's not Durable enough to Withstand the Thousands Of Hours The costumes are used for Charities and events. 2. While there are Many Proficiently Skilled Crafters Out there The Material Requires more work Then normal to achieve the Look that Is Mandatory for the Major Groups in there Guidelines. That's Not to say as a Fan you couldn't make your Kit completely from Eva and Cosplay the heck out of it. It's just not a Material that's allowed In the rules and Guidelines of the Major SW Clubs. I Hope that answered your question, and if you Do Make your Sw costume No matter what material I would love to see it.
@jx5926 жыл бұрын
Well it's foam, it's flexible. But it's not super accurate . It can be cured in poly urethaine, but you might as well cure the PVC with poly urethaine and get a sturdy object, ideally you'd want to use sheet aluminum.
