@Martin Svala The reason Jango’s armor was sliver and blue was because when he was sent into slavery his owners painted his armor. Originally, Jango had red and black armor to honor his father, Jaster Mereel, who had the same color scheme. However, before Jango dawned red and black armor he had green, red, and yellow armor, presumably for the same reasons as Boba.

i started making a mandalorian character about a month ago and made her armor color gray and blue. i made her backstory where her mother died during a raid when she was young and her father then turned into an alcoholic, and now the color gray for her armor makes a lot of sense. at the time i didnt know, but i'm glad i know now and might even make some adjustments to her and her armor. thank you :]

Pretty interesting explanations, but really not the way I thought it would go. Still looking at legends content, what about the ranking part of the color? It can be noticed in KOTOR, and especially in KOTOR 2 in the Mandalorian camp on Dxun; Blue is the generic one, very common, silver is for veterans on the front line, gold is field marshall, red is for rally masters (captains). At least that's true for Neo-Crusaders according to Wookieepedia ^^

He mentioned the meanings have changed with time. It's interesting to see the colors signify rank in both of those games, as the Mandos in I are likely from one clan that came to The Preservers call during II. Their ranking system carried directly over to their new combination of clans. Maybe it was more common on that era and just another detail of their culture that bound the different clans together. Or maybe it was just a convenient way to let the player know the "power level" of the characters in front of them. Idk. I find it more interesting that the entire Death Watch during TCW all have the same colors. Vizla and Bo Katan stand out and that's it. At least the Mauldalorians had slight variations, even without Gar and Rook. I hope we see another clan in Mandalorian S3, I still want to get a good look at all the background guys in S1.

At a cultural level they could very well be an indicator, in the case of the mandalorian they are thought to be at least. We see a group of people in the street wearing black, they are either goths, or they are on their way to a funeral, or they just like wearing black, the conclusion depends of one's social and cultural background. I have friend who is Brazilian, and he tolds me he hates purple. It is the color that covers the inside of coffins at funerals. So to him purple doesn't represent all the things one find after a googling for the meaning of purple, to him (and many other Brazilians) it represents loss and dread of death's inevitability.

My OC Viira Fei has her own complicated backstory where she starts off as an emotionally unstable jedi youngling, gets taken off the battlefield due to said instability, ands finds her niche in the medical division of the jedi where she essentially becomes a jedi healer who later overcomes her depression and anxiety, and becomes skilled in combat as well. She later falls in love with a mandalorian who is also a force-user, and basically leaves the order to run off with him and joins the mandalorians herself. She wears a cloak as her (gray) jedi self, and once she joined the mandalorians, her armor would be white as well, not only symbolizing her continued role as a healer, but also a new start.

Only recently found this video working on my own suit of armor. My primary colors are dark green, black on the right shoulder pad, white , gray, and red on my left shoulder. I'm including elements that honor my real world history in that I've incorporated a modified version of the tartan the Irish elements of my family would have worn on my right thigh armor, and will be merging my final army assignment patch with the German side of my family crest on the right shoulder pad. Almost forgot, my undersuit is a repurposed army uniform that has been retired.

I believe in the new canon that the modern Mandalorians, as the Wrens and Kryze's are as opposed to Death Watch or the others, have clan specific colors. Blue and gray for Clan Kryze, Yellows and grays for Wrens... it seems to be something along those lines in Rebels.

I think that's the meaning for the current mandalorians. during the neo-crusader era, blue, red, gold and silber/grey became the standard colours of the mandalorian armies rank identification. blue for the common warrior, red for rally masters who trained and lead small groups of mandalorians, gold for field marshals the highest command second only to the Mandalore and silver for the vangauard, the veterans who lead from the front. But since Mandalore no longer has a standing army, the meaning of colours are used represent the state of mind for individuals or groups and clans.

While its not listed here, i would like to also add Purple - Luck. I actually set up a Mandalorian character for a Star Wars 5E Game recently, a 70+ year old "Retired" Journeyman Protector who wears an Orange Helmet, and a Purple Suit (Like a fancy suit) over lighter armor. Clashing colors to represent that even while this deep into his retirement - he still holds his Mandalorian nature high in priority. The purple suit is ideally to give him the luck he needs to "make up" for his sins. And the Orange Helmet is to remind him to keep moving foreword so he can make full reparation.

The Mandalorian armor set I am assembling is going to be primarily white with Orange and black/carbon fiber accents with a gold/amber visor. I make Mandalorian action figures from trash. Right now their armor is, red & black, beige & brown, red & green, Neo Crusader Blue, unpainted with dark blue, and finally unpainted with with magenta. Also one is Buzz Lightyear themed. My head canon for these guys is that they honor older Mandalorian traditions by doing whatever tf with their armor, like one has a large feather on this his bucket another has a blaster on his. It would be cool to incorporate this lore into future builds though, this is like the one mando lore video I feel like I missed with my research.

I have a character I've been designing for some time now, with several thousand years of history behind him, a fictional mandalorian clan, and his ancestors. Concept is that through a variety of circumstances he's raised in a culture with close ties to The Mandalorians and the Sith, as well as distant ties to the Jedi and Republic. He combines Mandalorian traditions with Sith training and technology, strong in the dark side. Parts of his armor and gear will be passed down, but a lot of it will be cobbled together from his own long Hunts. a leather grip on his blaster made from some kind of reptile, the shroud of his lightsaber made from a shattered terentatek tooth, its' crystal a Krayt Dragon Pearl, one forearm replaced with a droid's arm, maybe some vonduun crab armor on the other arm, a tattered "battle skirt" worn with his armor, a Sith Mask designed after his Clan's Mando Helmet, Black, Green, and Gold to represent his boldness and dedication to his cause, but also to flaunt his success as a hunter, a soldier, and a master of The Force.

Dude, now I wish there was a new Mandalorian character who wore orange and just basically enjoyed life. He or she would just be the greatest pal, telling jokes, inviting you for parties or a drink at the bar, helped everyone around even in "mundane" things (like helping an old lady carry her things home or helping a lost kid find their parents), basically someone who always got your back no matter the circumstances. Damn! An openly friendly Mandalorian! I mean, I know we have Sabine, but she feels more like a rebellious teenager who ran away from home. So Grogu, being green, is duty bound whether he likes it or not? And when it comes to armour, who else wants to see the beskar spear melted down to make Grogu's armour? But the thing I'm wondering most is, how are they going to handle his ears with the helmet? Having them out the helmet leaves them obvious and vulnerable. Inside, but in their normal position creates a big target for melee weapons and blasters. Plus culturally, it would differentiate him from other Mandalorians.

Stylize the ears and turn them into giant horns of some sort, and teach him to stay in ranged combat where his small stature will be an advantage (smaller hitbox, less visible), not melee combat where it becomes a disadvantage (shorter reach, less power, lower speed and maneuverability due to tiny legs).

My armor colors would probably be a combination of a few, but I'd say the two definite colors would be orange and blue.
