It has been brought to my attention time and again that I erred in calling matoke plantain. Thank you for that. Kindly refrain from hammering the same all the time. I grew up where it was either matoke kubwa (plantains which cost slightly more because of their bigger size) or matoke ndogo (the actual matoke). Had it not been for me posting this video here on KZbin I would still be in the same ignorant space, so thank you guys for the correction. I appreciate it. Now let's move on.... :))

Hi, this dish is eaten a lot across East Africa, as well most parts of Africa (with a few variations here and there). I am Kenyan. The ingredient that you are asking about is Royco Mchuzi Mix Beef Flavour. You can get it online from Amazon. Thank you for stopping by and do tell me how the dish turns out. Happy cooking!!

I believe there is a bit of a miss referencing here, There is a clear difference between Matooke and plantain, Much as the two appear to be from the same Genus Musa, they are actually from different groups. Matooke from group AAA-EAHB while AAA if for Plantain. Much as i agree with the processing of your cook recipe, someone might be confused having a different taste if the Matooke is already turning yellow like plantain normally is. Matooke is fresh green.

I am just wondering why are you calling matooke plantain. What you have is definitely matooke and not plantain. They are not the same. However, your recipe does look very tasty!
