I ended up weighing the silver ball after it was the size I wanted, then using the same weight for each ball, but that was pretty fussy work. This is a MUCH better idea! Thanks again Randy! No matter how many times I rewatch your videos, I always learn something new!!!🤗❤️🤗

Yeah I could see how that would not be a great way to do that 😅 I'm happy that you saw how I do it.

WHOA! You were NOT JOKING about brass exploding! 😄 That could lead to an intense situation for someone who didn't know (like me). I haven't worked with brass yet (and not sure I will now😄) but I really appreciate the demo. Thanks!👍

Damn, those jigs are expensive! Re ventilation, someone decided they didn't need a good sized air filter that was virtually unused. Left it on a table in a common area. I took it home, ordered some charcoal filters and clammed them inside the cover. Works great, moves 10 times the air the little black smoke extractor does. I turn that one on, too! Maybe a cheaper idea than spending hundreds on a commercial fume extractor. Maybe. I guess I'll know in 10 years when I have brain tumors or something. Yikes! Yes! Yeah, $25 or more for one tool is kinda a lot but it does come in very handy.

It is the same as the other metals you just cant keep heat on it too long or it will blow up

Thx for video. Do you use raw yellow brass or red brass or what I’ve seen as nu-gold? What’s the advantage of one over the other? Thx for a response.

Would you say it's better to use brass than bronze for jewelry? I came across your video because I'd like to make small gold toned ball accents. This was very helpful to know how brass with act!
@GomeowCreations3 жыл бұрын
That is only if you over heat it. You can use it and it will work just fine. I have made a lot of brass balls without any problems

Wow! So brass can explode when heated? Thanks for that tip! I recently bought a bunch of brass in every gauge wire, shape & sheet and had intended to make jewelry with it. What now? I spent a small fortune!
@GomeowCreations2 жыл бұрын
It's only if you are over heating it well past its melting point. So making anything with it would be fine.

The good thing with these are that they have flat backs so you can solder them earlier.

Not that I know of, you might be able to do it with small parts with your propane torch

How do you keep the sterling from coming out pitted? I've only been able to successfully make smooth balls from fine or argentum silver.
@GomeowCreations5 жыл бұрын
I use flux on it and make sure the metal is clean before heating it. I also watch it to make sure it looks like a solid ball before removing the heat and I make sure not to over heat it. I do all of this on a charcoal block
@suzannehofer38674 жыл бұрын
If you overheat the silver, you end up cooking it and get pits. Just a little learning curve.

@MichaelJohnson-mb1io6 жыл бұрын
You might have this set at one length to make the same size balls, but you have to remember to use the same gauge wire, or you will have different size balls depending on the wire gauge.
