Soldering Silver Balls

In this video I share my technique for adding ball embellishments to soldering projects. I didn’t realize at the time I’d been mislead and called this size of silver ball “granulation” - this is incorrect! Granulation uses very tiny silver or gold balls!

I taught myself how to solder and I have had a lot of learning mistakes on my curve and you explain things so easily that I have learned so much just from the few videos I've watched so far. Thank you so much for your easy application and instruction. I have so much paste solder and I get it everywhere and then nothing sticks and I end up having to pickle it and scrub it and start all over. I feel like hugging you I am so happy that I have figured out the things that have been puzzling me for so long. How would you suggest to clean up excess solder on a textured plate?

May I respectfully suggest changing the title to ‘Soldering for a granulation LOOK’ as true granulation is fused and never soldered. Fusing granulation is commonly done with gum Arabic and used silver pickle (very blue with lots of copper oxides). Just a suggestion since this is a tutorial. You don’t want to give newbies inaccurate information or terminology.

You don't have to watch it if you don't like the way she teaches it. I happen to think that she is excellent at instruction. And whatever works is the point in the big picture.

I am a newbie jewelry rookie. Thank you for all your demos, tips and inspiration. I too love that cutout. Shape is beautiful. I am a long way from owning or deserving a 20 ton press. Someday. So purchasing a pancake die and punching them out is not an option. Is there a source where I can buy them?
