Helpful tip: you can cut holes in the empty pots you flipped upside down to raise your potted plants. This will allow fish to swim into them giving more space for them and they will also more than likely lay eggs in there as well. Depending on the fish.

So glad I stumbled upon your vid because I am actually picking up this same barrel tomorrow at HD & my solar powered pump arrived from AMZ yesterday - both will be used for my small pond project which I plan to try out this wk :) Great to see you do it first so I can plan ahead. My pump is a floating kind because I enjoy the splashing sounds of the water. Great greenhouse setup btw. Very informative vid overall 👍😄

I have been viewing your videos for over a year and am highly motivated to do a deck pond, or even larger, getting a large basin from Tractor Supply and doing what your videos show us. My fear/concern is this: my home has no level area as it's built on a rock, literally. If I leveled an area, could a basin which is 30 ' in deep (meant for cattle in the field) be above ground, w/o any digging, surrounded by a large amount of stone? I' like to get your input before I buy this basin.

Hi. I’m a new subscriber. What a great video. I live in an apartment now and miss having a pond. This is perfect. I have a large covered patio with two skylights with two unused GFCI outlets. My condo rules say I can have a 25 gal. Aquarium. The don’t mention inside our outside. They are really worried about West Nile virus, though. Would the filtration and the fish you suggested take care of mosquitos?

This looks great. I’ve never done this before, and was inspired enough to try it myself. Somehow, I screwed it up. :( I got the same large pot, bought a few aquatic plants at the local hardware/garden center. Ordered a solar filter which isn’t here yet. Thought I’d add a substrate to bottom and add a few bottom plants like I saw in another video of yours... looked simple enough. I rinsed it in another pot, added it to bottom and slowly added water. Now I have muddy water (like coffee with a little creamer added). Did I do something wrong? Do I need to start over and omit the substrate? Anyone?

00:16 I have only one aquarium so I must compost "extra" plants. I also don't like to do it but I just don't have place for them. Meaby I will manage to save some of them when I'll set up new aquarium but right now I don't have space for a new tank :(

@@annethornton9938 I think it's too late - most of my friends already known that I'm crazy about "aquarium stuff" ;) I tried to "draw them" into this hobby but they are not interested :/ À propos your other advices - I tried to give some stuff to the local pet shop but they didn't want it (they can't sale stuff from "unknown origin" and actually I agree with that), I also don't known much people in my town who have fish tank so I gues I must wait if someone from my class decide to set up aquarium ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
