Thanks for your feedback. The joy is definitely in the journey gathering up all the items to build it. Someone called it a Charlie Brown-esque Christmas tree which made me smile. Hope it's not too cold out in MI. Thank you again for your generous VCLT! :-) Stay warm and wishing you a fun and merry festive December!

Awww. Glad you approve of the tree. The joy is definitely in the journey for me with me gathering up all the items to build it. I am thinking I might just make a new "mixed-tape tree" with dvd cases as someone rightly pointed out that all the weight on books and box sets could end up damaging them. We'll see. It's finding the time to do these things. Many thanks for stopping by. Hope it's much warmer out there in CA.

That was really cool. Thanks for delving into your collection. You have good taste in books, movies and music. The film version of 'High Fidelity' perfectly captures the 90s indie scene. What a good time that was!

hello retro, you have so many cool records cds and dvds for your christmas tree! it looks wonderful and unique. i love music books like the ones you showed, especially ones on lp covers, as they were an art form unto themselves. that 45 singles book looked like something i would get as i am and always have been a 45 rpm record collector, so many fun items for your tree. always a fun and interesting video from you! thanks for sharing this, enjoyed it very much. take care

Great stuff and your sweater matches the Christmas Cookies my wife is making for me right now! The “Do they Know It’s Christmas” album looks similar to “Its Only Rock and Roll” by The Stones…..haha… My favorite R&R books are Johnny Winter - Raisin Cain, Nico (Velvet Underground) - Songs They Never Play on the Radio, Keith Richards - Life, Gregg Allman - Cross to Bear, & Pattie Boyd - Wonderful Tonight…..to name a few.

What a great fun idea 🌲🌲🌲 I have the very same copy of that 1001 albums book,I believe it's an integral part of VC membership 👍😁👍 I've got the 12 volumes of British/Motown Chartbusters that pre-dates your box set. It's one of a few rabbit holes I've ended up going down. I've shown the odd LP from the set but never the whole bunch. I've got the odd boxset but nothing major that cost me hundreds of pounds etc... two of them I've never opened and showed off,I'll have to rectify that. I do enjoy reading but I struggle to find quality me time to do it. I've been reading Pauline Blacks( lead singer of The Selecter)biography for probably nearly 2 years !!!! What I've read so far is good and interesting 👍👍👍

Oh wow. I didn't realise there was an earlier version of that Motown box set. I know what you mean about not having time to read. I struggle to find time to actually play records. I don't have many books on music...just a dozen I think and that's enough for me. I haven't read them properly...only dipping into them. I picked up most of the books secondhand at charity shops. Thanks for stopping by. Stay warm!!

Such a cool and adorable idea for the Christmas tree, I loved it! And I took the opportunity to write down some books that you showed by Motown and Bruce Talamon to look for. -11 in Oslo today. Steel blue sky. Yet I braved the cold and got me something to maybe enhance my videos a bit and my new go-to «lets get in Christmas mood» coffee drink, a latte with peppermint syrup 😊 Oh that album cover book looks good. Nick Hornby is probably my favorite modern author. I saw High Fidelity 6 times in Sydney, Australia (In part not to have to stay with the person I went there to stay with). I have to see it a couple of times pr year, John Cusack, big hero, Iben Hjeile («fellow» Dane) lifelong crush. Love Lost in Translation. Badly Drawn Boy is amazing. I bought a vinyl record with him two days ago! It’s called Banana Skin Shoes. It’s from 2020 I think. First new music I’ve gotten from him in years! Hey! Awesome tree! God Jul from Oslo ❄️🎅🏻❄️

😃What a great Creation. What a tree. I lived in the U.K as a younger self, I can remember those cold cold flats, the heaters never worked and the windows was so thin, it was like sitting outside. Maybe you could get a electrical heater. I have a couple of questions to you: 1) what made you move to the u.k, it sounds interesting to make a new start in a different country? 2) It seems like you must be into The Housemartins, Ilove those two records very much. Thank you for great videos and happy Christmas to you

Happy to know you like the "mixed tape tree" idea. The tree needs some work so I am thinking I might just make a new one with dvd cases as someone pointed out all the weight on books and box sets could end up damaging them. Not much has changed out here as per the cold. Double glazed windows help a little but not that much. It's amazing you mention the Housemartins..as I was listening to their cd while making the tree. "Build" is one of my favourite songs! Thanks for watching. Really appreciate your visit.

That's an interesting collection of books, CDs, and DVDs. I wasn't familiar with most of them, but that's nothing new. You always have interesting titles to show. As for the "tree," perhaps you could straighten some of the books, or make the stack more symmetrical with different books. Buying a desktop tree is an option, but It would be less unique than what you've put together in all probability. Also, the right color of book spines could give it a less busy look and more of a single unit look; the lights get a bit lost in the colors of the various book spines. But there's a nice sense of whimsy to what you've put together already, and the idea is too clever to abandon yet. Work with it some more to get it where you want it, then evaluate.

What a fun video this is. There's lots of great stuff in your Christmas decorating pile of things. 🎄Of all the books you showed, I just gotta get a copy of the Arhoolie Records book! 😻 I didn't know that's out. It's going on my Christmas wish list. Your story about the Jazz at the Philharmonic Box Set is great. I would have bought that one in a heart beat! 😻 Is it in nice condition or rough? I don't mean to spoil your fun, but I will do it for your benefit, Vinyl Sister. If I were you, I'd take all of that stuff and properly store it. You don't want to stack books on top of each other or the box set boxes. The book spines can be rolled and the carboard boxes warped. Other things can be damaged too. Store all of that stuff well; it's all collectible. As you know, keeping things in collector's condition is important. I'm glad that you realized this for at least your vinyl records. If I were you, I'd buy a tree at whatever level you can afford and decorate it with music themed ornaments. Maybe you could make some ornaments and/or buy some. Regardless, it was very cool to see you build a tree from all of this stuff; it looks good! 👏

Hi. Glad you enjoyed the video and thanks so much for flagging up the issue of the weight risking damage to the books and the record box sets. It never occurred to me. I have dismantled the "tree" and am thinking about making a "mixed tape tree" using all my dvds as the cases are light and stack easily. Will keep everyone posted on this! Thanks for your valuable advice and for stopping by to watch the video.

Sure, you're welcome. DVD's can be damaged too; maybe it would be best to take the DVD's out of the cases if there will be weight on them. Best of luck with your decorating. Decorating always makes a home feel cozy.👍👍👍 @@retromusings

Regarding Rodrigo Y Gabriela , I have been a fan for awhile now , and really like their guitar playing .
